Friends,

We’ve been getting back together at the gym for about 4 weeks now.  First of all, I’d like to thank everyone that came back for being respectful of the COVID-19 pandemic and of each others perspectives and viewpoints.  There are enough people outside of here that can debate different viewpoints.  While we’re here, let’s cotinue to respect the virus, abide by suggested protocols and respect each other’s viewpoints even if they’re different from our own.  By doing this, I’m hoping we can all continue to get together “safely”.

So who’s making progress already?  It sure seems like many people are.  I know I am just by seeing all of you again.  I’d like to share everyone’s progress.  This week, I’ll share some of Adam’s progress since so many of us have been cheering for him each week.

Adam has come every Wednesday and Friday (consistency is key, right Adam?).  He’s been doing some battle ropes with just about anyone that’ll do them with him.  Shelley and Sarah give him a good battle round.

Adam has also been hitting the starimaster hard.  Did I say the stairmaster and Adam in the same sentence?  I sure did!  Who would have thought Adam would be on the stairmaster?

The first time Adam did the stairmaster, he made it three minutes and he was done.  Toast.  He did this every Wednesday and Friday since and he’s made some drastic measurable improvements.  Last Friday, he did almost 9 minutes on the stairmaster.  That’s almost tripling (300% improvement) his endurance in less than a month.  His leg strength is building along with his endurance which is transferring over to his walking.  How does Adam feel when he’s done?  Wiped out!  Exhausted!  If you don’t believe me, just ask him.  He recovers after each time and he comes back stronger each day.  Way to go Adam!  You’re “showing” us we can make progress with our MS if we work hard at it.  You’re working hard and you deserve to make progress.  I’m really happy for you…we all are.  Keep it up!

Last week, our prayer group was once again…powerful!  I just love the way we share, pray together and witness prayers being answered weekly.  Thanks goes to God and to everyone that joins us.

Our Zoom prayer group on Wednesday mornings are a great place to get together virtually, catch up a bit and give thanks.  It’s awesome seeing so many of you there laughing, listening, sharing, giving thanks and praying!

We’ll be doing it again tomorrow (Wednesday) @ 11:30am.  We’ll get together via zoom and share, talk, listen, give thanks and pray however God leads us.  It’s a way for all of us to get together virtually to catch up and be there for each other and with each other.  I hope you’ll join us!

My heart goes out to all the people and families of the people that have been affected by COVID-19.  Whether actually having it, being exposed to it, being affected by businesses being shut down, losing your job, working on the front line, etc.  These are tough times and we really need to take it seriously and do our part of practicing social distancing and all other recommendations.  I hope you and your family are safe.  Let’s keep everyone affected in our prayers and pray we all get through this as safely as we can.

As we all go through this pandemic together, I encourage you to share a smile with someone.  Perhaps you could give someone a call that you haven’t talked with for a while just to see how they’re doing.  This pandemic is tough in many ways.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement during these times.

Let’s be thankful for all the doctors, nurses and everyone in the health care that are putting themselves at risk every day and every night as they serve those with the Coronavirus.  These are amazing, selfless, courageous people!  Let’s also give thanks to all the people in the world that are working diligently to develop testing equipment and ways to treat this Coronavirus.  Let’s also give thanks for all the people that are working diligently to produce protective gear, respirators, and any other medical equipment to help us get through this pandemic.

We may be inconvenienced in many ways but others have it much worse.  Let’s be thankful we have each other.  I know I’m thankful for you!

Let’s stay calm, focused, healthy, flexible, have faith and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day and make good choices.

See you soon…better days are ahead!
In God We Trust!
