Friends,

We will not be getting together this week Wednesday or Friday as a safety precaution.  Unfortunately, we had one of MS Just Keep Moving family members that was here last Wednesday test positive for COVID after he lost his taste and smell.  He doesn’t have any fever or any other symptoms and is doing well.  He doesn’t know where he picked it up at.  Let’s keep him in our prayers.

As a precaution, we will not be getting together this week.  If you develop any COVID symptoms, please let me know right away so we can make good decisions about next week.  I’m hoping we can get back together safely again next week.  I hope and pray nobody else gets it.

Sometimes we go through really tough times and it seems like nobody else understands.  It feels like we’re fighting our challenges alone.  I don’t know about you but I go through times like this more than I would like to.  Sometimes, I don’t even want to be around other people.  That’s just not like me but that’s how I feel sometimes.  So, how do I get through it?  Sometimes, I need  some love and encouragement.  Sometimes, I need empathy, someone that truly understands.  I always “try” to keep in mind that it’s physically impossible for people to feel what I’m feeling.  And sometimes…I just need a good kick in the butt to get me off my pity pot.

Living with MS is tough!  Living with MS along with other health challenges or the stresses of life is even tougher.  I want all of you to know that you help me in more ways than you know.  So how can we continue to help each other?  I think the best starting spot is to listen.  Truly listen to someone else and try to meet them where they are.  It might not be a place we want to go but it’s really an important starting spot.  Once we can truly understand where another person is mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually we can start moving toward a better place – together.

Another thing that helps me through these challenging times is to reach out to someone else I can help and get my mind off of me.  When we get together on Wednesdays and Fridays, I see people helping other people so naturally and genuinely.  We are a family of sharing and the more we share, the more we help each other.  Even if we’re sharing our challenges, we’re helping each other in ways we don’t even realize.  Let’s keep doing our part by getting together and sharing our journeys together.  We need each other.  We are not alone…we have each other and the good Lord is always with us.

Who’s ready to ride bike this year?  We’ll be watching the weather and as soon as it’s 45 degrees at 7:00am we’ll start riding on Friday mornings again.  It doesn’t look like it’s going to be 45 degrees this Friday.  Let’s hope it is next Friday…stay tuned.

The MS bike ride is going to be a one day ride this year on August 7th.  Let’s get as many people riding as we can and make it another epic ride.  We can ride “with” people with MS as well as “for” people with MS.

Some things have changed for the MS Bike ride this year.  People with MS no longer have free registration however they are passing a discount along.  Rookie riders are no longer free either but again, they’re passing a discount along.  They’re also passing discounts along to returning riders which they didn’t do in the past and they’re also passing discounts along to past riders who haven’t ridden in a while.  So…lots of discounts!

Prices to register will start to rise as we get closer to the date.  Right now is the cheapest time to register so if you’re going to ride, save yourself some money and sign up now.  Prices will start to increase April 1st.  All riders are required to raise a minimum of $300.00 toward this great cause and event.  Let’s do our part and raise as much as we can for all of us living with MS…especially those who can’t ride.

Here are the discount codes to use when you sign up:

  • BIKEVIP: 25% off used for Team Captains, Top Fundraisers, and I Ride with MS participants.
  • NEWRIDER: 25% off used for rookie riders.
  • TEAMUP: 15% off used for team members who are returning to the ride.
  • COMEBACK: 15% off used for someone who rode in years past but perhaps missed last year, they can come back and use this code.

Here’s a link to our Peppy Pedalers team where you can sign up:

Again, save yourself some money by signing up now and using your appropriate discount code.  I look forward to having you on our team.

If you’d like to ride but don’t know how you’d do it, please let me know.  We’ll do our best to figure out a way to get you riding.  We get pretty creative😊.

I’ve been out riding the last two mornings.  This morning, I decided to stop and say a few prayers for a close friend along with other family members, friends and their family members.  It was a beautiful morning for a ride.  I just thought I’d share a picture of my stop.  What a beautiful morning!

Last week, our prayer group was once again…powerful!  I just love the way we share, pray together and witness prayers being answered weekly.  Thanks goes to God and to everyone that joins us.

Our Zoom prayer group on Wednesday mornings are a great place to get together virtually, catch up a bit and give thanks.  It’s awesome seeing so many of you there laughing, listening, sharing, giving thanks and praying!

We’ll be doing it again tomorrow (Wednesday) @ 11:30am.  We’ll get together via zoom and share, talk, listen, give thanks and pray however God leads us.  It’s a way for all of us to get together virtually to catch up and be there for each other and with each other.  I hope you’ll join us!

We tried to have another fun conversation with Adam again this afternoon.  He was having troubles connecting and I had to leave early so I don’t know if he made it on or not.  I hope he did.  The rest of us that were there had a nice conversation.  For all of you who joined us…THANK YOU!  I hope you’ll join us next week.  Please mark your calendars 😊

My heart goes out to all the people and families of the people that have been affected by COVID-19.  Whether actually having it, being exposed to it, being affected by businesses being shut down, losing your job, working on the front line, etc.  These are tough times and we really need to take it seriously and do our part of practicing social distancing and all other recommendations.  I hope you and your family are safe.  Let’s keep everyone affected in our prayers and pray we all get through this as safely as we can.

As we all go through this pandemic together, I encourage you to share a smile with someone.  Perhaps you could give someone a call that you haven’t talked with for a while just to see how they’re doing.  This pandemic is tough in many ways.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement during these times.

Let’s be thankful for all the doctors, nurses and everyone in the health care that are putting themselves at risk every day and every night as they serve those with the Coronavirus.  These are amazing, selfless, courageous people!  Let’s also give thanks to all the people in the world that are working diligently to develop testing equipment and ways to treat this Coronavirus.  Let’s also give thanks for all the people that are working diligently to produce protective gear, respirators, and any other medical equipment to help us get through this pandemic.

We may be inconvenienced in many ways but others have it much worse.  Let’s be thankful we have each other.  I know I’m thankful for you!

Let’s stay calm, focused, healthy, flexible, have faith and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day and make good choices.

See you soon…better days are ahead!

In God We Trust!
Dan
