Friends,

Good news!  I haven’t heard of anymore COVID related symptoms again this past week so we will be getting together Wednesday and Friday mornings.  If you have any symptoms or know you’ve been exposed, please don’t come until your symptoms go away.  Please be respectful of the virus and others regardless of your beliefs about the virus and wear a mask, wipe your machines down, etc.  Let’s continue to do our part to get together safely.  Hopefully, we’ll be through this thing soon.

We’ll be getting together from 9:00am – noon on Wednesday and Friday.  I hope you’ll join us.

Who’s ready to ride bike this year?  It looks like it will still be in the 30’s this Friday morning @ 7:00 so we won’t be riding.  Hopefully it’ll warm a little by next week.  Stay tuned!

It was good to see so many people back again last week.  I know it’s really tough for some people to get out and come here.  Please know you’re in my prayers and you’re also one of the biggest reasons we’re doing what we’re doing.  I know it’s not easy.  I also know it’s helpful when we don’t have to face our challenges of living with MS alone.  We’re going to continue to do our best to help people living with MS in some way.  I’m thankful you’re joining us on this journey.

Last week I shared some of Rick’s progress.  Keep it up Rick!  This week I’d like to share some of Adam’s progress.  Adam challenged himself and got on the stair mill for the first time about 2-1/2 months ago.  His first time on it lasted three minutes on level 1 with several beaks.  When he got off, he was toast.  He had a hard time walking out to the car.

Last week on Wednesday, Adam did 13 minutes on level 1 with only one break at 9-1/2 minutes.  That’s a 433% measurable improvement in just 2-1/2 months.  He was still toast when he got done.  It wasn’t easy and he really worked hard to make it 13 minutes just as he did to make it 3 minutes the first time.  Way to go Adam!

It’s really important that we measure and record your progress in some way.  In Adam’s case, we’re measuring and recording his endurance with time on the stair mill.  If we wouldn’t be measuring it and recording it, Adam wouldn’t know if he was making progress or not because he still got to the toast spot where he was totally fatigued and exhausted.  He was able to go 10 minutes longer before he got there.

Going forward, we’re going to have Adam go to level 2 and start building his strength and endurance up at twice the speed as level 1.  I’m confident Adam will continue to do the hard work and make improvements.  We’ll continue to learn together and we’ll share his progress and his joy of making progress.  Keep up the hard work Adam!  I know it’s not easy.  You’re an inspiration to all of us.  You make us laugh too.  Laughing is great exercise in itself!

It’s even  been tough to laugh during this pandemic.  This pandemic has been hard on so many of us in way more than one way.  Let’s do our best to stay strong and be there for each other.  We all need each other more than we know.  I wish we knew of quicker and easier ways to make progress.  From my own experience and all I’ve been through and all I’ve studied; I haven’t found anything more beneficial than doing what we’re doing…getting together, working hard, loving, serving, caring and sharing.  As we learn more, we’ll share more.  Let’s keep moving!

Last week, our prayer group was once again…powerful!  I just love the way we share, pray together and witness prayers being answered weekly.  Thanks goes to God and to everyone that joins us.

Our Zoom prayer group on Wednesday mornings are a great place to get together virtually, catch up a bit and give thanks.  It’s awesome seeing so many of you there laughing, listening, sharing, giving thanks and praying!

We’ll be doing it again tomorrow (Wednesday) @ 11:30am.  We’ll get together via zoom and share, talk, listen, give thanks and pray however God leads us.  It’s a way for all of us to get together virtually to catch up and be there for each other and with each other.  I hope you’ll join us!

As we all live with MS and go through this pandemic together; I encourage you to share a smile with someone.  Perhaps you could give someone a call that you haven’t talked with for a while just to see how they’re doing.  This pandemic is tough in many ways.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement during these times.

MS is tough.  Let’s stay calm, focused, healthy, flexible, have faith and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices.  Better days are ahead.

In God We Trust!
