Friends,

Happy New Year!

Unfortunately, I have some sad news to share.  Our friend Joan Herburger passed away New Year’s day.

I learned so much from Joan.  She taught me how to find joy during the toughest times despite all of lifes challenges and to never give up.  She always had such a witty sense of humor as she shared so much wisdom.  Despite all of her challenges, she was always trying to do something for me and so many others.  Here’s a picture of Joan wanting to share some snacks for Mike, her driver and her care givers.  She loved to share and help others any way she could.

Here’s a link to information about Joan’s funeral services this Thursday.  https://www.churchandchapel.com/obituaries/Joan-L-Herburger?obId=23557411#/obituaryInfo

Joan will be missed dearly by all of us.  Actually, she’ll always be with us as she was such a big part of our MS Just Keep Moving family.

What are you going to do new in 2022?  Each year at the beginning of the year, it’s fun to put some events on our calendars.  One event that’s already on my calendar is the MS Bike ride August 6th and 7th.  It looks like we’re back to a two day ride 😊

If you’d be willing to sign up, now is a great time to do that.  The registration price is the lowest it will be.  As we get closer to the event, the price goes up.  If you’d be willing to join our team and ride with us, you can sign up now.  Let’s get it on our calendars.  Here’s the link to sign up on our Peppy Pedaler’s Team https://mssociety.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.team&teamID=15874

Dianne just started joining us a couple months ago.  You talk about a determined lady, Dianne is determined.  She fits right in with so many other determined people living with MS.  Dianne was standing last week and she calmly told me, “you know, it’s been 15 years since I’ve been able to stand”  To me, that’s huge!

She’s stood several times already since she started joing us.  It’s helpful to have the standing machine and friends to help her get on it.  Nice job to Dianne and every that helps her!

Our friend Cal Newby is excited about doing another mission trip in March.  Here’s a message from Cal about it and some information on how you can help:

Hi Everybody,

Danny has been nice enough to allow me to mention an event that will be taking place late this winter/spring. God has Blessed me with another beautiful opportunity, to serve the children and people of Panama, with Him.

I will be serving with 19 other people and River Glen church leaving March 19 and returning March 25. Among other things we will be bringing God’s word to the children Panama through Bible studies, feeding and caring for less fortunate families.

We will also be using sports as an opportunity to talk to the older children about Jesus. So I will be given the opportunity to play soccer and volleyball, with the older children in the evening.

Many of You have supported my mission work in the past. If God nudges You to help us out again; Soccer and Volleyball’s would be Awesome gifts that are needed. Perhaps sports socks or anything that we could use while playing sports. Actually, anything that will help us spread the word of God. I normally don’t ask for money, but if that is the easiest way to give, I would make sure any financial contribution would be used directly to aid the children and people of Panama.

God Bless,
Cal

With the COVID numbers going up so rapidly locally again, I’m going to highly encourage each of us to be socially responsible and help us all be safe.  I’m not telling you what to do but I’m asking you and highly encouraging you to wear a mask when you’re in close proximity to someone else whether you’ve been vaccinated or not.  We want to remain open and we need to do it safely.

Please stay home if you have any symptoms or know you’ve been exposed to someone with the virus.  Please don’t come until your symptoms go away.  Let’s also give each other some space when talking to one another and continue wiping the machines down before and after you use them with disinfectant.  Again…let’s be socially responsible and stay safe!

We’ll be getting together again from 9:00am – noon on Wednesday and Friday mornings at the gym.  I hope you’ll join us!

Let’s do something new in 2022.  I’d love to hear what “new” will be for you and how we can help you achieve it.  Please share!

There’s some fun New Year’s pictures on our Facebook page.  Check it out and feel free to join our Facebook community and share pictures and experiences of your own https://www.facebook.com/groups/2639832389489709

Ricky Heldt will be here again on Wednesday and Friday this week doing Tai Massage.  If you have Ricky work on you this week, please wear a mask.  We don’t want Ricky to pick the virus up from one person and spread it to others.

Many of you continue making great progress with chronic pain relief, range of motion, walking better and a new sense of hope when Ricky does his magic to you.  Please keep in mind that consistency is key.  Not only with Ricky…with exercise too.  We need consistency to realize the benefits long term.  We want you to have long term relief.

Ricky has a sign up sheet based on first come first serve.  You can pick the time slot that works for you.  I highly encourage you to take advantage of Ricky’s Tai Massages each day and sign up for your time slot as soon as you get there.

We’ll be having our prayer group in person again this Wednesday @ 11:00am.  I just love the way we share, pray together and witness prayers being answered weekly.  Thanks goes to God and to everyone that joins us.  Let’s get together to share, listen, talk, give thanks and pray however God leads us.

We’ll be having our inspirational humor zoom call with Adam again next Tuesday.  Adam is a gift to all of us.  Please join us if you can.

I encourage you to share a smile with someone.  Perhaps you could call someone that you haven’t talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they’re doing.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement during these times.

MS is tough.  Let’s stay calm, focused, healthy, flexible, have faith and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices.  Better days are ahead.

In God We Trust…Happy New Year!
Dan

P.S.  We had another nice sunset tonight.  I thought I would take a picture of it and share with those who don’t get to see it
