Friends,

Our Golf Outing was a huge success
Last Friday was our golf outing for MS-Just Keep Moving.  The weather was awesome and it seemed like everyone had a really good time.  I heard many comments like “It was a really well organized and fun event.  I’m already looking forward to doing it again next year”.

Here are a few pics.  I’ll share more at the gym when I get them gathered.

One person hit a hole in one on his first swing of the day.  Chrissy, Melissa and I were able to get a picture with him.  He was a happy golfer!

A huge thank you goes out to all who made this possible and all who have contributed many hours of time and all who participated, contributed donations for our raffles and silent auction items, etc.

A huge thank you goes out all our sponsors for this event.  Your sponsorhip is greatly appreciated!

Along with all the fun that was had, the golf outing was huge success for MS-Just Keep Moving.  Between all the sponsorships, participants, rafffle items, silent auction items, donations, etc., we raised a LOT of money.  Amazing!

A huge thanks goes out to Jeff, Frank and Katie from e-cares Platinum Health along with Rick, Dave and all the volunteers that worked so hard to make this possible and to everyone that participated, sponsored holes, solicited raffle and silent auction items, donated raffle and silent auction items, etc. etc.  It truly took an entire community of people working together to make this possible.  Thank you to ALL!

A special thanks goes to out to God for giving us such a beautiful day together.  Truly…many blessings.  Thank you God!

Research Opportunity – Many of you know Kate Born who volunteers with us and rides bike with us on Fridays.  Kate is doing a research program at Marquette University and needs people with and without MS to participate.  If you’re able, I’d highly encourage you to participate.  Here’s a note from Kate about the program:

Alexander Ng’s lab at Marquette is actively recruiting for an NIH funded study for people with and without MS age 20-66 years old. The purpose of this study is to assess the relationship between immune cell metabolism, disease status, and muscle metabolism in people with MS compared to those without MS. Our goal is to evaluate whether a marker of disease can be identified in people with MS. A small blood draw will take place at the beginning of the session. We will also perform non-invasive testing on the forearm muscle to see if muscle metabolism relates to immune metabolism in blood cells.

This study will occur in one session, lasting about 3 hours in total. All testing will take place on Marquette’s campus which is an accessible building with a parking lot designated for participants. Also, participants will be compensated for their time. Please spread the word to folks without MS too! An important component of any study is to evaluate the differences between those with and without MS to best understand the results.

If you are interested in learning more about the study and participating, please email Kate at kathryn.born@marquette.edu or call (630) 464-6591.

Some fun entertainment with Joel – We all know and love Joel Harris.

You may or may not know this about Joel but Joel is a drummer in the Kaleidoscope band and they will be playing in Waukesha at the Friday Nights Live Event this Friday evening.

This is a free event – no fundraising.  Joel would love it if you would come enjoy an evening in Waukesha this Friday evening and listen to him and his band.  Should be a fun evening!  Here’s a flyer with more info:

Let’s get together!

Prayer Group  We’ll be having our prayer group Wednesday @ 11:00am.
I just love the way we share, pray together and witness prayers being answered weekly.  It’s amazing!  Thanks goes to God and to everyone that joins us.  Let’s get together to share, listen, talk, give thanks and pray however God leads us.

Friday Morning Bike Rides
Let’s ride as long as it’s not raining.  We’ll be meeting Friday morning at 7:00am at Nettesheim Park in Pewaukee.  It’s on the SE corner of Hwy SS and Oak Street.  The GPS address is:  N26W27495 Prospect Ave, Pewaukee, WI 53072.  Come a little early so you can get your bike out of your car and be ready to ride as close to 7:00 as possible.  We’ll ride until about 8:45.  Let’s ride and have some fun!

If you join us on a Friday morning bike ride, you’ll experience something that’s not real common.  If you need a little help from friends getting up a hill, you’ll get it.  Fun rides!

This is really a fun group of people!

MS Just Keep Caring – Our Caregivers support group will be the first and third Friday of each month from 10:00 – 10:30am.  The next one will be this Friday, June 17th.  If you’re a caregiver of someone you love with MS, please join us and share your experience of caring for your loved one.  This has been very helpful for many.  Thanks to all who participate!

COVID   We’ve all been dealing with this long enough and are very well educated on it by now.  Let’s make good choices and be safe.

Please stay home if you have any symptoms or know you’ve been exposed to someone with the virus.  Please don’t come until your symptoms go away.  Let’s also give each other some space when talking to one another and continue wiping the machines down before and after you use them with disinfectant.  Again…let’s be socially responsible and stay safe!

Our Facebook page is now private.  That means you’ll need to join if you want access to all our fun and progress.  Lots of people are doing more and more and sharing of their journey on Facebook.  Feel free to join and share your experience and comments.  We’re now up to 217 members…awesome!   https://www.facebook.com/groups/2639832389489709

Thai Massage with Ricky Heldt  Ricky will be here Wednesday and Friday again this week doing Thai Massage.  Ricky says he is comfortable to work with you even if you’re not wearing a mask.  Ricky will continue to wear one to protect you.

Many continue making great progress with chronic pain relief, range of motion, walking better and a new sense of hope when Ricky works with them.  Please keep in mind that consistency is key.  Not only with Ricky…with exercise too.  We need consistency to realize the benefits long term.  We want you to have long term relief.

Ricky has a sign up sheet based on first come first serve.  You can pick the time slot that works for you.  I highly encourage you to take advantage of Ricky’s Thai Massages each day and sign up for your time slot as soon as you get there.

Reiki with Linda  Linda will be here on Fridays doing Reiki.  Many people say Linda’s Reiki work is “magical”.  We’re thankful for Linda offering her gifts and talents to us.

Feel free to let Linda know you’d like to do Reiki with her.  She also has a sign up sheet.

We’ll be having our inspirational humor zoom call with Adam again next Tuesday.  Adam is a gift to all of us.

Please join us if you can.

Let’s reach out
I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone.  Perhaps you could call someone that you haven’t talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they’re doing.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.

MS is tough.  Let’s have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices.

Let’s keep moving and smiling 😊

In God We Trust…we’re in good hands
Dan

P.S.  This week I was able to get a picture of some turkeys in our yard.

And another beautiful sunset in our backyard
I just love to share these.  I’m always thinking of everyone with MS that can’t get out to enjoy the critters and sunsets when I’m taking them.  My heart goes out to you.
