Wednesday and Friday Workouts, ‘The students are back’!

Friends,
The Students will be back
Dr Sarah, Dr Joe and the physical therapy assistant program students from Bryant & Stratton College will be back starting tomorrow.  We are so blessed to have them.  It’s great for them to learn about MS and the challenges first hand.  It’s awesome for our friends with MS to learn about them and how they can help us.  Let’s welcome the students back and provide a great experience for them while they are here.  They will be here on Wednesdays for the next 8 weeks.  Welcome back!  We will miss Dr McKenzie this semester as she is taking on a few more courses for her teaching caseload.  We’ll miss you Dr McKenzie.

I missed you last week
Last week, Bonnie and I drove out to Utah for our son Jacob and his now wife Liz’s wedding.  They got married just outside Zion National Park.  It was a beautiful wedding with beautiful people on both sides of the family and many close friends.  Here’s a picture of a run Jacob and Liz went on.

We just got back tonight and I’m tired so this is going to be a shorter e-mail.

Matt Panelli made it!
Matt Panelli climbed Mt Kilimanjaro and made it all the way up and back down despite his challenges with MS and cancer.  Way to go Matt!

We’re looking forward to seeing you back at the gym and hearing all about it.

Matt is making a documentary of this journey.  Here’s a link to a sneak peak of the initial footage.  https://app.frame.io/presentations/7c5de96a-14af-460c-8325-c689ce09440c

We are so happy for you Matt…and proud of you!  I’m really looking forward to seeing the documentary.

Dr Kate
Kate’s going on her honeymoon! Kate will be traveling abroad from Sep 7th – 19th. She will pre-record 2 seated balance classes that can be viewed on our YouTube page later this week at https://www.youtube.com/@msjustkeepmoving4994
The standing balance, HIIT, and 8:30 am cardio classes will be paused while she is gone. Mike B kindly offered to cover the 10am cardio class on both Wednesdays.

Neubie
Starting this week, the Neubie team (Ricky, Julie, Gayle and friends) will be starting a new “page” of Neubie use. For previous and new users, it is encouraged to pick one activity/muscle group/movement you want to improve over the next 3 months. Then, the Neubie team can place pads in that area specific to improving your goal. It is highly encouraged to take a photo of the pad placement so you remember where your pads go, and can replicate it every time you use Neubie. Consistency is key to Neubie success, so that’s why we are encouraging users to identify a singular thing they want to work on. Ricky will present more information about this in his upcoming presentation on Friday, September 20th at 11am. For those interested in using the Neubie for the first time to improve function, there are currently 6 slots open on the schedule (20 minutes long each). If you wish to try Neubie for the first time, we ask that you commit to using it consistently (1-2 days/week) for 3 months. On the whiteboard next to the massage chair is a space where you can write your name under “waitlist” if you wish to start Neubie for the first time. From there, one of the Neubie team members can connect with you.

Friday Morning Bike Ride
Once we get into September and October, every ride is a bonus.  We will continue riding until the temperature gets below 45 degrees at 7:00am and is not raining.  It looks like it will get to 45 degrees during the ride, we’ll still ride.  Please dress warmer as the temperature gets cooler.

We could still use a few more volunteers on the ride with us.  We’re getting a pretty good rhythm going when we have enough and gets a little more spread out when we don’t.  Thanks to all for showing up and doing your part!

We’ll be meeting Friday morning at 7:00am at Nettesheim Park in Pewaukee.  It’s on the SE corner of Hwy SS and Oak Street.  The GPS address is:  N26W27495 Prospect Ave, Pewaukee, WI 53072.

Come a little early so you can get your bike out of your car and be ready to ride as close to 7:00 as possible.  We’ll ride until about 8:45.  Let’s ride and have some fun!

For those who wish you could join us but can’t; please know we have you in our hearts on these rides.  We’re riding with you and for you.  I hope you too can join us someday.

Thai Massage with Ricky Heldt
Ricky will be here on Wednesdays doing Thai Massage.  Ricky will be taking Fridays off for a while.  Perhaps through the summer.

There is a sign up board to be used to accommodate your needs for your exercise plan.  Some people with spasticity need to be massaged / stretched out before they can exercise.  Some people need a massage after a hard workout to loosen up their tight muscles or relieve pain.

We have limited spots for massages, please be considerate of people that need the massage the most in order to do the exercises they need to do or recover from the exercises they just did.

You can pick the time slot that works for you.

Reiki with Linda  Linda will be here on Fridays doing Reiki.  Many people say Linda’s Reiki work is “magical”.  We’re thankful for Linda sharing her gifts and talents with us.  Feel free to let Linda know you’d like to do Reiki with her.  She also has a sign-up sheet.

Inspirational Humor with Adam Wollert
We’ll be having our inspirational humor zoom call with Adam again next Tuesday.  Adam is a gift to all of us.  Thanks to all who joined us today!

Please join us if you can.

Let’s reach out
I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone.  Perhaps you could call someone that you have not talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they are doing.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.

MS is tough.  Let’s have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices.

Let’s keep moving, smiling and loving 😊  It helps!

In God We Trust…we are in good hands.

P.S.  With traveling last week, I didn’t get out with the camera.  Here’s the sunrise we had on the wedding day.

We went for a hike right up in some of the rocks in the park.  It was interesting.

I’m really tired tonight.  I’ll try to get some more pics this week for next week.

For those who can’t get out and enjoy nature due your challenges with MS…my heart is with you.  You are with me every time I’m out there.  I enjoy being out there and I also enjoy sharing with you.  I know how hard it is not to be able to get out and enjoy nature.  Let’s enjoy nature and God’s beauty together this way.
