Wednesday and Friday Workouts, ‘Jeff and Frank visit’!

Friends,
Golf Outing – Jeff and Frank visit
Jeff and Frank from ePlatinum Health who put on the golf outing for us the past three years visited us last week.  Thank you for visiting Jeff and Frank!

A huge thank you goes out to all who shared comments about what Jeff and Frank are doing for all of us with the golf outing and the proceeds donated to us through the years.  Your heartfelt comments were impactful for Frank and Jeff.  They meant a LOT to me as well.  Thank you so much for sharing!

It’s fun having the students and their leaders back
The students and leaders from the physical therapy assistant program at Bryant & Stratton College were back last week.  They picked right back up where they left off and started helping our friends with MS.  They took Rich out for a trike ride through the industrial park.  Rich can’t talk real loud but they knew he was trying to say something when they were going downhill.

When they got back to the parking lot, they asked Rich, “what were you saying?”  Rich said “Put your hands up!”  Ahh…we got it!  So what did they do?  They took him for another ride through the industrial park so they could all put their hands up going downhill.  Fun!

When they got back after the second ride through the industrial park, they asked Rich “Was that good or do you want to go again?”  Rich said “Let’s go again”.  They were great sports and they took Rich out again.  Thanks to all who made this possible!

Matt Panelli made the news!
As we all know, Matt Panelli climbed Mt Kilimanjaro and made it all the way up and back down despite his challenges with MS and cancer.  Channel 58 did a short clip on his accomplishments yesterday on the news.  Matt had some great messages for all of us.  Here’s a link in case you didn’t see it:  https://www.cbs58.com/news/cancer-survivor-and-ms-patient-summits-mt-kilimanjaro

Great messages and accomplishment Matt!  See you tomorrow at the gym.

A great massages from Vicki or electrical stimulation?
Last week, we were trying to figure out if Marlene spent too much time with the electrical stimulation or if Vicki gave her a very good massage.  You’ll have to ask Marlene which it was 😊

Sharing Session last Friday
I thought it was beneficial in so many ways to have a sharing session about living with MS.  We’re all different and different things work and don’t work for each of us.  We had an opportunity to share experiences about our Day of Endurance journey which was very inspirational.  We learned more about some of our friends with MS that we didn’t know.  We also had a chance to share what’s working from a nutrition perspective, what icing does for neurological pain, etc.  Thanks to all who shared and made this time beneficial!  I hope you can incorporate some of the suggestions shared into your personal journey of living with MS and find it beneficial yourself.

Friday Morning Bike Ride
Once we get into September and October, every ride is a bonus.  We will continue riding until the temperature gets below 45 degrees at 7:00am and is not raining.  It looks like it will get to 45 degrees during the ride, we’ll still ride.  Please dress warmer as the temperature gets cooler.

We had a great ride again last week.  We made it all the way up the hill on the lake country trail across Maple Avenue to the parking lot of the Naga-Waukee Golf Club at the top of the hill.  That’s a great accomplishment for all of us.  Hills are our friends 😊 They make us stronger.

A great group of people to ride with.  We are so blessed to have each other.

We could still use a few more volunteers on the ride with us.  We’re getting a pretty good rhythm going when we have enough and gets a little more spread out when we don’t.  Thanks to all for showing up and doing your part!

We’ll be meeting Friday morning at 7:00am at Nettesheim Park in Pewaukee.  It’s on the SE corner of Hwy SS and Oak Street.  The GPS address is:  N26W27495 Prospect Ave, Pewaukee, WI 53072.

Come a little early so you can get your bike out of your car and be ready to ride as close to 7:00 as possible.  We’ll ride until about 8:45.  Let’s ride and have some fun!

For those who wish you could join us but can’t; please know we have you in our hearts on these rides.  We’re riding with you and for you.  I hope you too can join us someday.

Thai Massage with Ricky Heldt
Ricky will be here on Wednesdays doing Thai Massage.

There is a sign up board to be used to accommodate your needs for your exercise plan.  Some people with spasticity need to be massaged / stretched out before they can exercise.  Some people need a massage after a hard workout to loosen up their tight muscles or relieve pain.

We have limited spots for massages, please be considerate of people that need the massage the most in order to do the exercises they need to do or recover from the exercises they just did.

You can pick the time slot that works for you.

Reiki with Linda  Linda will be here on Fridays doing Reiki.  Many people say Linda’s Reiki work is “magical”.  We’re thankful for Linda sharing her gifts and talents with us.  Feel free to let Linda know you’d like to do Reiki with her.  She also has a sign-up sheet.

Let’s reach out
I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone.  Perhaps you could call someone that you have not talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they are doing.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.

MS is tough.  Let’s have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices.

Let’s keep moving, smiling and loving 😊  It helps!

In God We Trust…we are in good hands.

P.S.  I’m refreshed this week and had some fun in nature with the camera.  I was lucky enough to see an egret catch a fish

Once it caught the fish, it took off to fly to shallower waters.

It was a beautiful site to see it fly off with its snack

I went out for a walk Saturday evening and saw some deer having some fun together.

There were four bucks in this group

This one spotted me as I was standing in a corn field

When I walked a little further, I saw a nice buck with a smaller buck

Here’s a little better picture of the bigger buck

It’s hard to get a squirrel to stand up and smile.  This one cooperated pretty well.

This is the first time I saw a chipmunk climb up on a flower for a snack.

These weeds had some nice lighting on them.  Kind of caught my eye.

Last night, we had a simple but colorful sunset in our backyard.

For those who can’t get out and enjoy nature due your challenges with MS…my heart is with you.  You are with me every time I’m out there.  I enjoy being out there and I also enjoy sharing with you.  I know how hard it is not to be able to get out and enjoy nature.  Let’s enjoy nature and God’s beauty together this way.
