Open House – Saturday, November 7th
We will be having our Open House on November 7th. We hope you will join us and invite anyone you know who would be:
- Person with MS we could potentially help going forward
- Person interested in volunteering
- Person who has financially supported us in the past or would potentially support us going forward

Strong Strides Class – Wednesdays from 11-11:30 over 7 weeks from 9/9-10/21. This is a limited-time class offered by the Bryant & Stratton College PTA students!
This class is going well and is proving to be beneficial to our friends with MS who engage in it as well as the students who lead this class. This past Wednesday, they had some fun going the length of the gym taking some strong strides with a bit of lunge and lift action.

This session focuses on weight-bearing strength at the hips, knees, and ankles meant to improve walking mechanics. If you attended Dr. Sarah’s presentation on knee hyperextension, you have introductory knowledge on the types of exercises that will be targeted. This class is for individuals who are currently walking – with or without an assistive device and hope to widen their exercise variety in a group setting to gain strength and confidence with walking.
Thursday Morning Walk
We got rained out last Thursday. It looks like it’s going to beautiful this Thursday morning. I hope you engage in this opportunity.
October is a beautiful month to walk. We started these walks this spring with 15-20 people. Now that the Day of Endurance is over, we are down to about six people which is still great. However, I would love to see more people benefit from these beautiful walks together. Please join us.

We will be back at St Anthony’s again this week. If you would like to walk further next year at the Day of Endurance, now would be a great time to start walking with us. We all learned that if we want to walk better or further, we need to walk more. I know, that’s easier said than done for many of us living with MS. Let’s work hard at it…together.
The long-distance walkers will be starting at 6:30 am. The rest of us will be starting at 9:00am. We will be starting from St. Anthony’s parking lot.
St Anthony’s Church
W280N2101 Prospect Avenue
Pewaukee, WI 53072
Come a few minutes early so we can start walking as close to the starting time you choose as possible. Bring water and dress accordingly.
For those who wish they could walk but can’t, we are walking for you and have you on our minds and in our hearts on these walks.
Friday Morning Bike Ride
Looking at the weather for this Friday, it looks like it will be beautiful morning for a ride. We should have a nice sunny ride. Dress for the weather 😊 Every ride in October is a bonus. Let’s take advantage of this Friday. The weather could change at any time and we could be done for the season.

Nutrition Program.
Maria and the people who engage in our nutrition program discussed fats in depth this week and how essential they are.
If you are not engaging in our nutrition program, I would highly encourage you to do so. At least read the handouts that Janine and Maria prepare for us each week and apply the information into your lifestyle.

Here’s a link to the full handout:
Nutrition: 2026 Fats Clearly Explained Class.pdf – Google Drive
See this link to access the entire library of nutrition resources since early last year.
Janine and Maria put a lot into these presentations. It’s wonderful for them to share these presentations with those who can’t be here. It’s even more impactful for people who can be here in person to get the information first hand and be able to get questions answered and learn from others living with MS.
I would highly encourage you to engage in our nutrition program Monday mornings @ 9:00am so you can benefit at a high level. All are encouraged to come; people with MS, loved ones, care takers, volunteers, etc.
Thank you, Janine and Maria!
Prayer Group We’ll be having our prayer group Wednesday from 11:00am – noon.
I just love the way we share, pray and laugh together while we witness prayers being answered weekly. It’s truly amazing!
Thanks go to God and to everyone that joins us. Let’s get together to share, listen, talk, give thanks, and pray however God leads us.
MS-Just Keep Caring – Our Caregivers support group will be the first and third Friday of each month from 10:00 – 10:30am. The next one will be Friday, October 16th, 2026. If you’re a caregiver of someone you love with MS, please join us and share your experience of caring for your loved one. This has been very helpful for many. Thanks to all who participate!
Member Spotlight – Our amazing bike ride volunteers
As our biking season is winding down for the year, we need to express gratitude for our amazing volunteers who make these rides possible. These rides are certainly not normal…not even close. Our volunteers so selflessly show up all summer to make these rides a great experience for our friends with MS. Many of which never thought they’d ever be able to go on a bike ride again due to their challenges with MS. THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS!
Thanks also to all the people who live with MS that show up and ride with us. I know this is not easy to be there before 7:00am and ready to ride. I hope you enjoyed the season and received some benefits from it. You are certainly being a great example for others with MS. Thank YOU too!

Coughs, colds, flus, etc. – Let’s not share

Research Needs us!
Marquette University, UW Milwaukee, University of Illinois, and Carroll University have research opportunities they would like us to engage in. We have flyers and more information about these opportunities at the gym. Please engage in these opportunities if you qualify. You could make improvements yourself and you could be helping so many other people with MS as they face their challenges. We really need to get this MS thing figured out and you can help by engaging in these research opportunities.
Dr Ng Needs more participants
Dr Alex Ng from Marquette University reached out to me with this message. I would highly encourage you to participate in this research if you’re able to.
HI Dan,
I want to resend our study recruitment notice for our “singing study”. We actually have two studies going and we can sort eligible participants into the best one for them. Note that our age range has expanded to 20 to 80 yr. Still not completely inclusive but a step in the right direction. Any help you could give us to help get the word out would be appreciated! Thanks for what you created for the MS community.
Take care,
Alex

I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone. Perhaps you could call someone that you have not talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they are doing. We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.
MS is tough. Let’s have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices and take action.
Let’s keep moving, smiling, and loving 😊 It helps in many ways!

P.S. Last Friday I went for a bike ride before our 7:00am bike ride. The sunrise looked pretty nice so I stopped by the boat ramp. It was a beautiful morning.

As I was out in nature this past weekend, I happened to see quite a few egrets. I don’t know if they are starting to migrate or just hungry. This one was picking bugs off the top of the water. I happened to catch it flipping the bug into its mouth after watching it for quite a while.

This one was sitting in a tree so peacefully.

I happened to catch this one in flight doing a fly by. Beautiful birds.

I thought I would add a few words to this one.

This Sandhill Crane was on high alert

I added a few words to this one too.

This Great Blue Heron was not minding the green algae in all of its surroundings.

If you watch them long enough, eventually they fly.

This little squirrel had to do some problem solving. The branch it was on ended. It didn’t think about it too long. It quickly turned around and went back up the branch.

For those who cannot get out and enjoy nature due your challenges with MS…my heart is with you. You are with me every time I am out there. I enjoy being able to share with you. I know how hard it is not to be able to get out and enjoy nature. Let’s enjoy nature and God’s beauty together this way.
