Wednesday and Friday Workouts – ‘Brewers spirit is in the gym’!

Friends,

Go Brewers!

The spirit in the gym has a very high “Go Brewers” spirit.  It’s so good to see everyone coming together to cheer on the Brewers.  Bill was at the World Series game in 1982 and still had his shirt from then.  It’s great to see it still fits him like a glove.  Impressive!  😊  Thanks for sporting it Bill!  Let’s hope tonight’s game goes well.

Gotta love Suspension Training

This is not easy but it is beneficial.  It’s great to so many engaging in our TRX Suspension Training opportunities.  The good thing about the TRX suspension training is it’s flexible enough that just about everyone can adapt to it and benefit from it regardless of our challenges with MS.  These classes are open to our friends with MS as well as our volunteers and caregivers.  I hope you will engage in these opportunities and benefit from them.

Seated Balance Class

I love it how you all stepped up and ran the classes together last week.  We really had an active week, didn’t we?  I love to see the engagement from all levels.

Sharing our love with Randy and wishing him the best

We all gathered to make a little video doing our battle cry and sharing some love “Just Keep Moving – We are Strong – We are Family and we love you Randy” to send to him as he recovers from his health challenges.  We look forward to you getting back soon, Randy.

Thanks, Matt for getting us together, making the video and sharing it with Randy.  Here’s a link to the video on our Facebook page  (1) Facebook

Open House – Saturday, November 7th

In less than two weeks, we will be having our Open House on November 7th from 2:00 – 5:00pm.  We hope you will join us and invite anyone you know who would be:

We couldn’t even consider doing all we are doing without our friends with MS who join us, our selfless and loving volunteers and our supporters who support us financially and who have donated money, equipment, services, etc.

Christmas Market and Bake Sale

Thanks to all of you who volunteered to be a vendor at the Christmas Market! Now, we need people to bring baked goods for Weds, Dec 2nd and/or Friday, Dec 4th. Cookies, brownies, bars, fudge, candy, bread, etc. are all welcome!

Please put your goodies in zip-loc or plastic bags or ??. Write the name of your baked goods on the bag/plate and any dietary comments like “contains nuts” or “gluten free” or “vegan.”

Also, please price your goods. Just use a marker and write on the bag. $2.50 for 3, $5.00 for a 1/2 dozen and $10 for a dozen. (All money raised goes to the gym.) If you bring a loaf of bread, whole pie or cake please set your own price.  If you don’t know how to price them, just bring them in and we help with that.

We will also need a few helpers to work the bake sale. Chrissy A will be in charge on Weds and Laura K will be in charge on Fri. Thanks to both of you!

Any questions please ask Reiki Linda at lckamaria4@gmail.com.

Bryant and Stratton Students  – Last day here was last Wednesday

We have been fortunate to have the Bryant & Stratton College Physical Therapy Assistant students and their leaders here with us these past 9 or 10 weeks again.  I love how this group of students were so engaged, led classes which was way out of their comfort zone, worked independently with some of our friends with MS, shared their knowledge and love, etc.  We were so blessed to have them.

This has been such a great experience for the students and our friends with MS.  A few of them spoke on their last day here.  Here’s a video of what they had to say about their experience here>

Farewell video from the 2026 – 2027 Bryant Stratton PTA student cohort: https://youtu.be/PCdImd6h9RM

Thank you, Dr Joe, Dr Sarah and students!  I wish you all the best going forward and will be looking forward to your next class next spring.

Rebounding – is started back up

Rebounding has proved to be so beneficial and life changing for many of us living with MS.  It was great to see some people starting to engage in it again now that the weather is cooling down and we are getting back inside consistently.

We have one group starting at 6:30am and one group starting at 8:00am Monday through Friday.  If you would like to do it at a different time on your own, feel free.  If you would like to see us have another group session at a different time, please let us know that.  We would like to see many people benefit from this and make it available to you in some way.

Thursday Morning Walk

October is a beautiful month to walk.  It’s been beautiful so far.  Last week, we had a beautiful sunrise.  It helps when we start in the dark and walk to the east where the sun is rising.  Please know you are welcome and encouraged to join us.  Sure beats sleeping 😊

Donna Roy was feeling pretty spunky last Thursday, walking REALLY well and wanting to celebrate.  She gave Steve a high five and even got some air, check it out under her shoes with no hands on her walker.  Steve got some nice air too 😊.  Well done, Donna and Steve!

It’s been taking Todd an hour and 30 minutes to walk a mile.  That’s not easy and he worked really hard to finish each mile.  Two weeks ago, I challenged him to walk one mile each day for two weeks and let’s see if he gets any faster.  I explained the only way any of us will know is if “you” do it.  Todd didn’t really agree to the challenge but he did his best to be committed to it.  Last Thursday, he walked the mile in an hour and 10 minutes.  That’s cutting off 20 minutes with two weeks of consistency.  Well done, Todd!  I sure hope you continue walking over the winter and do even better than that next spring.

We will be back at St Anthony’s again this week.  If you would like to walk further next year at the Day of Endurance, now would be a great time to start walking with us.  We all learned that if we want to walk better or farther, we need to walk more.  I know, that’s easier said than done for many of us living with MS.  Let’s work hard at it…together.

We will be starting at 9:00am from St. Anthony’s parking lot.

St Anthony’s Church

W280N2101 Prospect Avenue

Pewaukee, WI 53072

Come a few minutes early so we can start walking close to the starting time.  Bring water and dress accordingly.

For those who wish they could walk but can’t, we are walking for you and have you on our minds and in our hearts on these walks.

Friday Morning Bike Ride

We are done for the season…let’s think spring and ride indoors at the gym all winter so we can pick up where we left off in the spring.

These bike rides are amazing!  We had another great year of riding together.  It’s hard to believe we started in April this year and made it all the way through the spring, summer and fall.  Truly amazing!

For those who wish you could join us but can’t; please know we have you in our hearts on these rides.  We’re riding with you and for you.  I hope you too can join us someday.

Public service announcements:

  1. Food and snacks – please store and consume all food and uncovered drinks in the break room at the gym. Please help us keep the equipment clean and crumb-free. Let’s share healthy snacks when we share snacks

Cooking show starting Wednesday, 11-4-2026

Maria Garcia, a member of the gym, has offered to host cooking demonstrations in the breakroom on the first Wednesday of each Month following the prayer group. Maria is passionate about healthy eating. She’s going to showcase one dish each month that we can watch her prepare and try afterwards. All are welcome to join our very own cooking show happening right here at the gym!

Nutrition Program.

Janine shared a PowerPoint last week when discussing food while actually traveling. She’s happy to talk about ice cream flavors, quinoa sliders, elk burgers, fish sandwiches, salads, cole slaw, tofu coconut curry, or Mexican meals if anyone has questions or wants to discuss these tasty foods. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IOwZEV9L9ZWCdGGDcm2FawFeCZgaKmyp/view?usp=drive_link

That PowerPoint made me feel like I want to take that trip and eat all that good food.  I’m glad you got to do that, Janine and have be able to share your travels the way you did.  Thank you!

This week the nutrition team discussed healthy snacks at the gym.  Great subject!  Let’s do our best to make this a healthy place to come.  😊

Janine and Maria put a lot into these presentations.  It’s wonderful for them to share these presentations with those who can’t be here.  It’s even more impactful for people who can be here in person to get the information first hand and be able to get questions answered and learn from others living with MS.

I would highly encourage you to engage in our nutrition program Monday mornings @ 9:00am so you can benefit at a high level.  All are encouraged to come; people with MS, loved ones, care takers, volunteers, etc.

Thank you, Janine and Maria!

Prayer Group  We’ll be having our prayer group Wednesday from 11:00am – noon.

I just love the way we share, pray and laugh together while we witness prayers being answered weekly.  It’s truly amazing!

Thanks go to God and to everyone that joins us.  Let’s get together to share, listen, talk, give thanks, and pray however God leads us.

MS-Just Keep Caring – Our Caregivers support group will be the first and third Friday of each month from 10:00 – 10:30am.  The next one will be Friday, November 6th, 2026.  If you’re a caregiver of someone you love with MS, please join us and share your experience of caring for your loved one.  This has been very helpful for many.  Thanks to all who participate!

Member Spotlight – Linda Katsun

I love it when I hear people are out doing what they love to do.  Linda’s adventures made me feel really good about what she’s able to do despite her challenges with MS.  Keep up the hard work, Linda.  I’m happy for you.

Do you have any shoes you can donate?  Becky Thomas is collecting old or new shoes supporting Soles for Jesus.  These shoes will be distributed to people in need of shoes in Africa.  Becky dropped off a box for us to drop them in.  Please bring in shoes if you have any extras.

Coughs, colds, flus, etc. – Let’s not share

There are a lot of bugs going around.  If you are experiencing any symptoms, please stay home and recover from them instead of sharing with the rest of us at the gym.  We look forward to you getting over it and having you back quickly.

Research Needs us!

Marquette University, UW Milwaukee, University of Illinois, and Carroll University have research opportunities they would like us to engage in.  We have flyers and more information about these opportunities at the gym.  Please engage in these opportunities if you qualify.  You could make improvements yourself and you could be helping so many other people with MS as they face their challenges.  We really need to get this MS thing figured out and you can help by engaging in these research opportunities.

Our Facebook  We broke 700 friends!  We’re now at 710 members.  That’s awesome!   https://www.facebook.com/groups/2639832389489709

Let’s reach out

I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone.  Perhaps you could call someone that you have not talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they are doing.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.

MS is tough.  Let’s have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices and take action.

Let’s keep moving, smiling, and loving 😊  It helps in many ways!

In God We Trust…we are in good hands.

P.S.  We had such an active week at the gym this past week and I already shared lots of pictures in the e-mail above, I’m only going to share a few pictures I captured in nature this week.

I had a nice fall sunrise with Clifford the big red dog

I also enjoyed a sunrise by some sunflowers

There are lots of photo ops in a patch of sunflowers

And a lot of life on the sunflowers

If you ever get a chance to stand in a sunflower patch and do nothing but take in the beauty and life around you, I would highly suggest doing that.

For those who cannot get out and enjoy nature due your challenges with MS…my heart is with you.  You are with me every time I am out there.  I enjoy being able to share with you.  I know how hard it is not to be able to get out and enjoy nature.  Let’s enjoy nature and God’s beauty together this way.
