Wednesday and Friday Workouts – ‘Thank You Rick for Your Story’!

June 10 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Friends,

Yardstick of Life – Rick Talbert
Rick gave a powerful and impactful presentation last Fridy about his life and many of the God sightings he’s had in life.  He explained it from a perspective of a yardstick and how his life has been impacted each section of a yardstick.  It was certainly an interesting story and way to look at which ever phase of life we are in.

Thanks, Rick for sharing your journey and perspective!  It was impactful.

We recorded this and will share the link as soon as I can figure out how to get it on our YouTube channel.

Dockhounds Game
Many of us enjoyed the Dockhounds game on Sunday.  John Arena did a nice job of getting us selected to be able to do this as a fundraiser for our MS-Just Keep Moving Mission.  Thank you, John!  We had 93 people from our MS-Just Keep Moving families join us there.

A huge THANK YOU goes out to all who came and supported us.  We happened to catch a few of us for a picture on the way out.  Unfortunately, we didn’t get a picture of everyone.

By the way, the Dockhounds played well.  We saw several homeruns, double plays, bases stolen, foul balls, etc.  The Dockhounds even won.  😊

Thursday Morning Walks
I couldn’t be happier with the turnout for the Thursday morning walks this year and the progress that each person is making by sticking to the ramping up by 10% maximum each week.  This gradual and consistent plan is working for just about everyone who shows up consistently.

Last week, we had 19 people show up between people with MS and volunteers to walk with us.  Let’s keep in mind we want our volunteers to train “with us” for the Day of Endurance.  I’m thankful many are…thank you!

It got a little hot last week by the time we were done.  We will be starting a little earlier this week to beat the heat.  The long walkers who want to start earlier will be starting at 6:30 am.  The rest of us will be starting at 8:00am.  We will be starting from St. Anthony’s parking lot.

St Anthony’s Church
W280N2101 Prospect Avenue
Pewaukee, WI 53072

Come a few minutes early so we can start walking as close to the starting time you choose as possible.  It’s probably going to be warm by the time we are done so bring water and dress accordingly.

For those who wish they could walk but can’t, we are walking for you and have you on our minds and in our hearts.

Standing Balance Class on Rebounders
I love it when I see people in engaging in the standing balance classes on the rebounders.  I know how life changing rebounding has been for me.  I really want to see others experience this as well.  Rebounding is all balance work, even just standing on them challenges our balance and improves our balance.  Thanks Kate, for making these classes possible and leading them so well!

Golf Outing – Friday, June 26th
Please bring anything you have for our raffle and silent auction items in to the gym this week.  The time has come.  We are putting baskets, etc. together now.

A huge THANKS goes out to everyone who went out and solicited donations for us as well as those who made a donation.  THANK YOU!

We really want to give the golfers a great experience as well as raise a bunch of money for our mission.

Let’s get together – Open Gym plus programs!

We’ll be getting together from 7:00am – noon on Monday through Friday mornings at the gym. Plus, Monday and Wednesday evenings from 4:30pm – 6:30pm and Tuesday afternoons for the aquatics program.  I hope you’ll join us!

Exercise class schedule Feedback welcome to make this as best as it can be!

Nutrition Program.
This week, Janine and friends talked about beets and Serviceberries.  Wow!  Lots of benefits.

If you are not engaging in our nutrition program, I would highly encourage you to at least read the handouts that Janine prepares for us each week and apply the information into your lifestyle.

Here’s a link to the full handout:
Nutrition: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-zL3ClVi_gSFdpTDoDa8Kz4n8mRjcDn9/view?usp=drive_link

Janine puts a lot into these presentations.  It’s wonderful for her to share these presentations with those who can’t be here.  It’s even more impactful for people who can be here in person to get the information first hand and be able to get questions answered and learn from others living with MS.

I would highly encourage you to engage in our nutrition program Monday mornings @ 9:00am so you can benefit at a high level.  All are encouraged to come; people with MS, loved ones, care takers, volunteers, etc.

Thank you, Janine!

Prayer Group  We’ll be having our prayer group Wednesday from 11:00am – noon.
I just love the way we share, pray and laugh together while we witness prayers being answered weekly.  It’s truly amazing!

Thanks go to God and to everyone that joins us.  Let’s get together to share, listen, talk, give thanks, and pray however God leads us.

MS-Just Keep Caring – Our Caregivers support group will be the first and third Friday of each month from 10:00 – 10:30am.  The next one will be Friday, June 19th, 2026.  If you’re a caregiver of someone you love with MS, please join us and share your experience of caring for your loved one.  This has been very helpful for many.  Thanks to all who participate!

Member Spotlight – Kate chose me
Kate writes the member spotlights each week.  This week, I shared with her my experience in a very noisy, high stimulation event with 41,000 people.  I shared with her that 2-1/2 years ago, I wouldn’t have been able to even consider going to an event like this.  If I did, I wouldn’t be able to last 15 minutes before my MS would fire up and wipe me out.  Then I could barely walk out when I realized I need to leave.  I was this way for about 23 years before I started rebounding.

For the past 2-1/2 years, since I started rebounding consistently, I have been able to handle high stimulation events like this so much better.  I not only lasted the entire event; I was able to walk out of there just fine after the event.  I was amazed and so happy and thankful.

Ed and Adam’s Podcast
Adam and Ed welcomed back Susie and Bob after some serious health issues.  Welcome back Susie and Bob!  We’re so thankful you’re back.

Friday Morning Bike Rides
Looking at the weather for this Friday, it looks like it will be a great morning for a ride.

We’ll be meeting Friday morning at 7:00am at Nettesheim Park in Pewaukee.  It’s on the SE corner of Hwy SS and Oak Street.  The GPS address is:  N26W27495 Prospect Ave, Pewaukee, WI 53072.

Come a little early so you can get your bike out of your car and be ready to ride as close to 7:00am as possible.  We’ll ride until about 8:45.  Let’s ride and have some fun!

For those who wish you could join us but can’t; please know we have you in our hearts on these rides.  We’re riding with you and for you.  I hope you too can join us someday.

Shoe Donations
Do you have any shoes you can donate?  Becky Thomas is collecting old or new shoes supporting Soles for Jesus.  These shoes will be distributed to people in need of shoes in Africa.  Becky dropped off a box for us to drop them in.  Please bring in shoes if you have any extras.

Coughs, colds, flus, etc. – Let’s not share
There are a lot of bugs going around.  If you are experiencing any symptoms, please stay home and recover from them instead of sharing with the rest of us at the gym.  We look forward to you getting over it and having you back quickly.

Research Needs us!
Marquette University, UW Milwaukee, University of Illinois, and Carroll University have research opportunities they would like us to engage in.  We have flyers and more information about these opportunities at the gym.  Please engage in these opportunities if you qualify.  You could make improvements yourself and you could be helping so many other people with MS as they face their challenges.  We really need to get this MS thing figured out and you can help by engaging in these research opportunities.

Here’s a research opportunity that Marquette University is doing for all of living with MS.  I would highly encourage you to engage in this if you qualify.

Let’s reach out
I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone.  Perhaps you could call someone that you have not talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they are doing.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.

MS is tough.  Let’s have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices and take action.

Let’s keep moving, smiling, and loving 😊  It helps in many ways!

In God We Trust…we are in good hands.

P.S.  It’s interesting out in nature these days.  The leaves are now all on the trees and it’s hard to see through them.  I heard a Pileated Woodpecker pecking on a tree from quite a ways away.  I walked very slowly and quietly towards it.  I was finally close to it but still couldn’t see it through the trees.  Finally, I got a sneak peek at it.

There are a lot of spider webs in the woods now

The frogs are enjoying sunning themselves

After a rain, which we needed really badly, there are some interesting places the rain drops build up

Mushrooms are growing in the woods now too

Butterflies are out

As well as dragon flies.  I love the detail in dragon flies

We had some thirsty deer come to our bird bath this afternoon

And we had a pretty nice buck visit us a few days ago

I love the sunsets in our backyard

For those who cannot get out and enjoy nature due your challenges with MS…my heart is with you.  You are with me every time I am out there.  I enjoy being able to share with you.  I know how hard it is not to be able to get out and enjoy nature.  Let’s enjoy nature and God’s beauty together this way.
