Wednesday and Friday Workouts, ‘Congratulations Dr Kate’!

Friends,

It was nice to celebrate Dr Kate’s Graduation with her
Thanks to all that arranged for, picked up baloons and to Athena for making some cakes to celebrate Dr Kate’s graduation.

Congratulations Dr Kate!  We’re so thankful to have you here with us.

This weekend Joan and Matt inspired me
Last weekend Steve unexpectedly surprised me and inspired me as he finished his half marathon.  This past Saturday morning, my good friend Rainer and I were on bike ride from Pewaukee to Holy Hill.  After we made it all the way up the hill and were on our way back down the hill, we saw Joan and Matt riding up the hill.  I said to Rainer, we need to go back…yes, that meant all the way back up the hill to the church again.  Rainer is like me and likes hills so he didn’t mind.

We were coming up behind Joan and Matt so we were able to see how hard they were working to get up the hill.  They both made it all the way up withot falling or walking and we weren’t able to catch up with them unto we got to the top.

It just warmed my heart to see them out riding together and taking in such a challenge.  It was great to see you out there Joan and Matt.  Thanks for making my day!  Thanks for riding with me Rainer and being a good sport to go back up the hill to say hi to them!

Dr Kate’s Omega 3 Research Review last Friday
It was awesome that Dr Kate put the presentation about Omega 3’s together and reviewed a study that was done on Omega 3’s and people with MS.  The results were encouraging and fall right in line with the experiment we will be doing with a few people with Dan’s Daily Dose initiatives.

Here’s a link to Dr Kate’s presentation:  Omega 3’s.pptx

Thanks for putting this together and presenting it so nicely Dr Kate!

Johnnie is getting out there!
It’s nice to see Johnnie getting out there on the grit chair and making good use of our track around the parking lot.  Nice job Johnnie!  We all like to see you moving and working hard while carrying a conversation 😊

Ed and Adam’s Podcast
This week Adam and Ed share the different programs and events we offer at our MS-Just Keep Moving gym from their perspective.  Thanks Adam and Ed for sharing!  Well done!

This is a fun one to listen to.  Here’s a link.

Thanks Adam, Ed and Ava for doing these podcasts together!

Who’s making progress?
Steve is working really hard to do what he used to do efficiently.  I was fortunate to be there and see Steve finish his half marathon.  Can you believe he drove to Oklahoma (I believe that’s correct) to run a 5K this past weekend?  Steve, let’s keep moving, smiling and loving.  You’re good at all three.

We are extremely fortunate that ePlatinum Health will be putting on a golf outing for us again this year.  A huge thank you goes out to Jeff, Frank, Katie and the entire ePlatinum Health team.

Great news!  We have enough silent auction and raffle items to provide a great experience for our golfers and hopefully raise a lot of money for our mission.

A huge THANKS goes out to everyone who has worked so hard soliciting donations, people who have donated, people who worked hard planning for this event, keeping things organized, communicating to people, making signs, putting baskets together, etc. etc.

I sure hope we have beautiful weather for the event again this year like we’ve had the past two years.

Again, THANK YOU so much to ePlatinum Health and everyone that is making this possible.  We all REALLY appreciate you!

Day of Endurance 2024 – August 24, 2024
Another two weeks is already here.  Please turn your training sheets in to Dr Kate or Mike B.  I hope your long workout keeps getting a little longer for you each week.

The board at the gym is starting to show some exciting progress.  Please check it out.

Consistency is key.  Let’s exercise everyday.  It’s the gradual, consistency that our bodies will adapt to over time.  Let’s do one long workout per week so we can appreciate that we are making progress each week.  Kate can certainly help you with a program based on your abilities.  Please feel free to reach out to her.

It’s really important that we’re active and we enjoy the journey of training for the Day of Endurance…preferably “together”.  I hope you can find some workout friends to enjoy this journey with.  It can be others with MS, friends, neighbors, family members, movie stars, it doesn’t matter.  It really only takes one other person to have show up and do whatever you’re going to do each day.  You can pick different people different days.

Let’s make this a recreational adventure.  A social adventure.  A rewarding experience.  And… “share” it.  So, let’s start inviting friends and family members to join us on this journey and have some fun with it.

I hope you’ll engage in the journey and make progress yourself.

Friday Morning Bike Ride
Our Friday morning rides are off to a great start.  Even when we have some mechanical issues, we have fun together.  Thanks Todd for fixing the chain and getting us going quickly.

Thank you to all that are showing up and riding with us!  If anyone knows of anyone willing to volunteer that can ride a two wheeled bike and help at intersections, keeping people together, getting up hills, etc., we could use a couple more people to help.  I’m certainly thankful for the volunteers that are riding with us.  We all are.

We’ll be meeting Friday morning at 7:00am at Nettesheim Park in Pewaukee.  It’s on the SE corner of Hwy SS and Oak Street.  The GPS address is:  N26W27495 Prospect Ave, Pewaukee, WI 53072.

Come a little early so you can get your bike out of your car and be ready to ride as close to 7:00 as possible.  We’ll ride until about 8:45.  Let’s ride and have some fun!

For those who wish you could join us but can’t; please know we have you in our hearts on these rides.  We’re riding with you and for you.  I hope you too can join us someday.

Let’s reach out
I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone.  Perhaps you could call someone that you have not talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they are doing.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.

MS is tough.  Let’s have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices.

Let’s keep moving, smiling and loving 😊  It helps!

In God We Trust…we are in good hands.

P.S. During the early morning sunrises are a great time to get out for a bike ride.  In case you sleep in and miss the sunrises, they happen each morning this time of the year about 5:25am.  I usually don’t get out there until about 5:45am though.  It sure beats sleeping! 😊

This last week, we saw our first fawn on Wednesday morning’s ride

What happens to the turkeys when it rains?  They get wet and look pretty cool.

Bonnie is getting pretty good at taking sunset pictures in our backyard while the crane continues to eat out my hand.

We love the cranes in our backyard

This one was cleaning itself.  A little different perspective.

We love the doves on the birdbath too.  Sometimes I get lucky with the camera.

I went for a walk at Lapham Peak State Park close to sunset last night.  The flowers are starting to bloom in the butterfly garden.  You should go there if you get a chance.

I saw quite a few deer

And some mushrooms of some sort.

And a cute little bird.  You just never know what you’re going to see when you’re out there.

The dandelions even look interesting after a rain.

For those who can’t get out and enjoy nature due your challenges with MS…my heart is with you.  You are with me every time I’m out there.  I enjoy being out there and I also enjoy sharing with you.  I know how hard it is not to be able to get out and enjoy nature.  Let’s enjoy nature and God’s beauty together this way.
