Friends,
First 100-mile bike ride of the year
Todd and I who have MS and some of our early morning daily riding friends did our annual 100-mile bike ride on the Vilas County trails in northern Wisconsin this past Saturday. The weather was windy and cool which was very MS friendly. The trails were beautiful. It’s so nice riding that far on paved trails and not worrying about traffic. If you ever get a chance to ride there, I would highly recommend it.

Yes, Todd rode the entire 100 miles on his hand cycle. That’s a challenge for someone with MS that has been affected the way he has been affected. MS has not been easy for him but he sets a great example of not being afraid of it and making the best of doing what he can do despite his challenges with MS.
Personally, I was able to handle it quite well again this year. I think the cool weather had something to do with it. This was probably the best I felt during the ride and after the ride in all the years we have been doing this ride. I still say my MS as a disease keeps getting better each year, not worse. I hope you experience the same with your Day of Endurance journey. There’s no doubt in my mind that rebounding every day all winter long has a big part of this as well as drinking a therapeutic dose of chia seeds daily.
We sure were thankful to be able to do this together.

Baskets and raffle items are coming together nicely! A huge THANKS goes out to everyone who went out and solicited donations for us as well as those who made a donation. Also, a huge thanks go out to our volunteers who are putting the baskets together and getting this all organized for us…THANK YOU!
The lunchroom is where we are doing all the organizing, etc. We will be opening it up for selling raffle tickets and silent auction items this Friday. Please avoid the use of this room until Friday except for water, etc. Get ready for the grand opening on Friday. Thanks for your cooperation!
We will be doing the prayer group in the front room the next two Wednesdays. Thanks for understanding and cooperating. Same time, different room.
We will be able to sell raffle tickets at the gym for the golf outing this year. We will be doing this Friday of this week along with Monday and Wednesday of next week. We have great baskets and silent auction items again this year. Some real fun events and activities to try to win.
Please check out the items starting Friday and purchase tickets if you are willing and able to do so.
We really want to give the golfers a great experience as well as raise a bunch of money for our mission.
Volunteer sign ups
Since expanding our hours, we are seeing a greater desire from our members to come to the gym more days per week. We’re hoping these opportunities can allow our members to continue seeing progress. With more demand and Summer travel, it’s helpful for our leaders and volunteers to see who’s planning to volunteer when.
Indicate when you’re volunteering via the web using this link: link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C044BADA72CAAFFC07-63269348-msjkm#/

Nutrition Program.
This week, Janine and friends talked about preservative food additives. That’s an interesting topic for those of us who want to get our bodies to heal from the inside.
If you are not engaging in our nutrition program, I would highly encourage you to at least read the handouts that Janine prepares for us each week and apply the information into your lifestyle.

Here’s a link to the full handout:

Janine puts a lot into these presentations. It’s wonderful for her to share these presentations with those who can’t be here. It’s even more impactful for people who can be here in person to get the information first hand and be able to get questions answered and learn from others living with MS.
I would highly encourage you to engage in our nutrition program Monday mornings @ 9:00am so you can benefit at a high level. All are encouraged to come; people with MS, loved ones, care takers, volunteers, etc.
Thank you, Janine!
Prayer Group We’ll be having our prayer group Wednesday from 11:00am – noon.
I just love the way we share, pray and laugh together while we witness prayers being answered weekly. It’s truly amazing!
Thanks goes to God and to everyone that joins us. Let’s get together to share, listen, talk, give thanks, and pray however God leads us.

Member Spotlight – Linda Strzelecki
Linda and Jeff have been coming very consistently and are proving once again that consistency is necessary for us to stay ahead of our MS and make progress with it. Great job, Linda and Jeff! They’re really fun to be with too 😊

Coughs, colds, flus, etc. – Let’s not share
There are a lot of bugs going around. If you are experiencing any symptoms, please stay home and recover from them instead of sharing with the rest of us at the gym. We look forward to you getting over it and having you back quickly.
Research Needs us!
Marquette University, UW Milwaukee, University of Illinois, and Carroll University have research opportunities they would like us to engage in. We have flyers and more information about these opportunities at the gym. Please engage in these opportunities if you qualify. You could make improvements yourself and you could be helping so many other people with MS as they face their challenges. We really need to get this MS thing figured out and you can help by engaging in these research opportunities.
Here’s a research opportunity that Marquette University is doing for all of living with MS. I would highly encourage you to engage in this if you qualify.

I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone. Perhaps you could call someone that you have not talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they are doing. We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.
MS is tough. Let’s have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices and take action.
Let’s keep moving, smiling, and loving 😊 It helps in many ways!
In God We Trust…we are in good hands.

P.S. I took my camera along up north this past weekend hoping I would get some pictures of some loons with a baby. We knew they were on the lake because one of the lake residents built a platform for them to nest and shared the process. We’ve been following them.

I always admire seeing God’s love evident in critters when I am out in nature. How do they know how to love and protect each other?

They sure do love each other

I’m thankful I was able to capture these moments and share them with you. I’d really like to go back up and see if I could find them again at sunrise or sunset.

These ducks didn’t have a care in the world. Nap time.

Some more Motherly love 😊

Many times, simple is beautiful!

This little guy was outside our window the other night. Gotta love all God’s critters 😊

When we were on our walk last Thursday, we came across a frog on the trail. It let me get my cell phone pretty close to it.

For those who cannot get out and enjoy nature due your challenges with MS…my heart is with you. You are with me every time I am out there. I enjoy being able to share with you. I know how hard it is not to be able to get out and enjoy nature. Let’s enjoy nature and God’s beauty together this way.
