Friends,
Giving Tuesday – Today
I’m terrible at asking anyone for anything but I love it when people help out. We are so fortunate to have the loving community we have with all our friends with MS, caregivers, volunteers, supporters, advisors, etc.
If you are a person who gives to non-profits on Giving Tuesdays, year-end, or anytime throughout the year, please consider MS-Just Keep Moving, Inc. as a worthy tax deductible 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to donate to.
As you know, everything we do for people with MS, we do for free. We don’t get any government funding. All of our funding comes from people, organizations, events and businesses who are passionate about our mission. It would be totally against our mission if we couldn’t help people with MS for financial reasons…either on their part or ours.
We are very fiscally responsible and appreciative of any donations we receive. All of our board members are on a volunteer basis and 100% of donations go directly to serving our mission. There are many ways to give however, we would prefer a check so we don’t have to pay a service charge.
Here’s a list of ways you can donate if you are willing to do so.
If you’ve donated to us in the past…THANK YOU! We will continue to put your donations to good use serving our friends with MS. I’m so thankful you’re making it possible for us to do this…together. THANK YOU!
Volunteer Appreciation / Christmas party
Our annual volunteer appreciation / Christmas party will be Wednesday, December 18th. There is a sign-up sheet at the gym for food. I hope to see you there!
Evening open gym for working people with MS
Exciting news! The gym is now open one evening per week. If our morning hours don’t work for your schedule, then you’re in luck! Dr Kate Kern will be hosting evening gym hours from 4-7pm each Monday starting on 12/9/24. Exercise on your own or participate in a group cardio or strength class. Caregivers/partners and volunteers are welcome and encouraged to join. Please reach out to Dr Kate directly with any questions or comments at kborn123@gmail.com
Free Mobility Device Lift
Anne Moore made me aware of a program that some of you may benefit from. I hope it helps some of our friends with MS. Here’s a message from Anne about it:
Hi Dan,
I will try to remember to ask Dr Kate to make an announcement regarding this great grant. Any Waukesha County resident with a disability can apply to get a scooter/powerchair lift, valued up to $7000 for their vehicle, through the Waukesha County Aging & Disability Center (they must live in Waukesha County.
While I heard they ran out of grant funding for this year, the grant will roll through 2025 and new money is available Jan 1.
A local dealer will install it. A Bruno dealer told me about the program, and I verified it. Below is an article about it. These lifts are expensive, so it’s a great grant to help people get one for their vehicle-mobility device combo. I can get anyone more information and put them in contact with the program or a local dealer. I know our local 101 Mobility will help the person through the process.

Thai Massage with Ricky Heldt
Ricky will be here on Wednesdays doing Thai Massage.
There is a sign-up board to be used to accommodate your needs for your exercise plan. Some people with spasticity need to be massaged / stretched out before they can exercise. Some people need a massage after a hard workout to loosen up their tight muscles or relieve pain.
We have limited spots for massages, please be considerate of people that need the massage the most in order to do the exercises they need to do or recover from the exercises they just did.
You can pick the time slot that works for you.
Reiki with Linda and Mary Linda and Mary will be here on Fridays doing Reiki. Many people say their Reiki work is “magical”. We’re thankful for Linda and Mary for sharing their gifts and talents with us. Feel free to let them know you’d like to do Reiki with them. They also have a sign-up sheet.

I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone. Perhaps you could call someone that you have not talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they are doing. We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.
MS is tough. Let’s have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices and take action.
Let’s keep moving, smiling and loving 😊 It helps!
In God We Trust…we are in good hands.

P.S. Our Sandhill Cranes flew south shortly after I took their picture last week. Let’s hope they have a safe trip south, a safe winter and come back in March like they have the past few years. Sorry…no new crane pictures this week.
Now that it’s getting a little colder, we’re starting to get some ice on the lakes, rivers and rocks.
This chunk of ice caught my eye on our hike with Steve last night.
Once the rivers freeze up, the eagles will start going to the open water to find their food. Last weekend, I saw these two juveniles having fun flying together. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch them when they were tangling together but I did get them flying together.
This little bird looks like it’s getting ready for winter 😊
I had some nice lighting on this red-bellied woodpecker
I like cardinals. This isn’t the best picture but I thought I would share it anyway.
When Steve and I were out walking, we had a few deer run past us.
I know this isn’t nature but Steve and I thought it was pretty cool watching this airplane fly through the sunlight at sunset.
On Sunday afternoon, I took a walk at Lapham Peak and got lucky enough to see a couple bucks together.
And a cute little deer close up 😊
This little squirrel was kind of cute too.
For those who can’t get out and enjoy nature due your challenges with MS…my heart is with you. You are with me every time I’m out there. I enjoy being out there and I also enjoy sharing with you. I know how hard it is not to be able to get out and enjoy nature. Let’s enjoy nature and God’s beauty together this way.
