Wednesday and Friday Workouts, ‘making others SMILE . . . FUN’!

Friends,

I love it when someone makes someone else’s day
Rich made Bella’s day as he gave her some flowers for her graduation from the Physical Therapy assistance program at Bryant Stratton College.

Bella is one of the students who comes back even after her program is done.  Bella has made Rich’s day many times while she was here as well as many other people’s day.  This thoughtful act of kindness by Rich warmed my heart and…made my day.  😊 Thanks Rich!

We’re expanding our hours and adding a program!
Exciting news!  If you’ve been here lately on a Wednesday for Dr Kate’s cardio class, you’ve experienced a good workout that’s beneficial to all who engage in it.  Since we’re at capacity each Wednesday lately, we’re going to be adding another class starting next Wednesday, June 26th.

Our new hours for the gym will be from 8:00am – noon.  Dr Kate will have cardio classes at 8:30am and at 10:00am.

Ricky’s Tai Chi class is also growing in popularity and will be continued at the same time, from 10:30am – 11:00am on Wednesdays.  I apologize for interrupting the Tai Chi class last Wednesday for the group picture.  I won’t make a habit of that…please forgive me.

New waivers!
Our waivers needed some updating as we continue to grow.  We have new waivers printed and we need anyone that comes to the gym to sign the new waiver.  This includes our friends with MS, care takers and volunteers.

JoAnne Enk has graciously offered to help us get these waivers updated.  Please see Jo Anne at your earliest convenience to get your waiver updated.  Thanks in advance for your cooperation!

Our new website is LIVE!
Jamie Aukofer, Joan, Cal, Chrissy, Greg and others worked hard for the past year and a half building a new website for us on a volunteer basis.  It’s live and it’s very informative.  Please check it out and let us know what you think of it.

Here’s the link:  https://msjustkeepmoving.org/

Thank you, Jamie and everyone that worked so hard to bring this to reality!  We’re so fortunate to be surrounded by so many talented people who are selfless and willing to share their gifts.

Cal and Chrissy’s Mission Trip to Panama
Cal and Chrissy will be leaving this Saturday, June 22nd.  For Chrissy, living with MS and it’s challenges; going on a mission trip like this could be challenging.  Cal is a very experienced world traveler so I’m confident Chrissy will be in good company.  They’ll be looking out for each other for sure.

Let’s keep them in our prayers as they go there and make a difference in the lives of the children in Panama.  A huge thanks goes out to all who supported Cal and Chrissy on this mission trip.

Ed and Adam’s Podcast
This week, Ed and Adam share some of their experiences of how MS can affect other illness and health challenges.

Thanks Adam, Ed and Ava for doing these podcasts together!

Who’s making progress?
Athena comes in and works hard every chance she gets.  I’m excited to see how she does at the Day of Endurance.  She deserves to do well.

Day of Endurance 2024 – August 24, 2024
Wow!  Another two weeks has gone by again since we reported our progress.  Please turn in your progress notes to Dr Kate and Mike B.  I’m really excited that so much progress is being made.  I just love how so many people are engaging in this journey and making progress personally.

I hope you’re feeling good about this journey.  Please be cautious, it’s during these times when we start feeling pretty good that we get a little too confident and get injured somehow.  Let’s avoid injuries and setbacks by being conscious of our limits.  We need to push our limits but not get hurt.  That’s a fine line.

Consistency is key.  Let’s exercise everyday.  It’s the gradual, consistency that our bodies will adapt to over time.  Let’s do one long workout per week so we can appreciate that we are making progress each week.  Dr Kate can certainly help you with a program based on your abilities.  Please feel free to reach out to her.

It’s really important that we’re active and we enjoy the journey of training for the Day of Endurance…preferably “together”.  I hope you can find some workout friends to enjoy this journey with.  It can be others with MS, friends, neighbors, family members, movie stars, it doesn’t matter.  It really only takes one other person to have show up and do whatever you’re going to do each day.  You can pick different people different days.

Let’s make this a recreational adventure.  A social adventure.  A rewarding experience.  And… “share” it.  So, let’s start inviting friends and family members to join us on this journey and have some fun with it.

I hope you’ll engage in the journey and make progress yourself.

Friday Morning Bike Ride
A huge thank you goes out to Ron and Larry for getting there early and getting all the trikes unloaded and hooked together so we can get riding as close to 7:00am as we can.

It was really nice the last two weeks when we could leave earlier than other mornings due to everyone getting there early and getting on your bike on time.  As a result, we were able to ride longer and get about 14 miles in last week.  That’s pretty amazing!

It sure helped by having more volunteers on the ride with us last week as well.  We’re getting a pretty good rythym going.  Thanks to all for showing up and doing your part!

We’ll be meeting Friday morning at 7:00am at Nettesheim Park in Pewaukee.  It’s on the SE corner of Hwy SS and Oak Street.  The GPS address is:  N26W27495 Prospect Ave, Pewaukee, WI 53072.

Come a little early so you can get your bike out of your car and be ready to ride as close to 7:00 as possible.  We’ll ride until about 8:45.  Let’s ride and have some fun!

For those who wish you could join us but can’t; please know we have you in our hearts on these rides.  We’re riding with you and for you.  I hope you too can join us someday.

Let’s reach out
I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone.  Perhaps you could call someone that you have not talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they are doing.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.

MS is tough.  Let’s have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices.

Let’s keep moving, smiling and loving 😊  It helps!

In God We Trust…we are in good hands.

P.S. For some reason, I didn’t get out with the camera much this past week.  I did have some nice soft light one evening lighting this flower up on our porch though.

Some people don’t like thistles but they definitely have a lot of detail to them.

The cranes have been pretty relaxed this week in the heat.

In case you need a need profile picture for your favorite social media account, you could probably have some fun with this one.  Feel free to use it 😊

For those who can’t get out and enjoy nature due your challenges with MS…my heart is with you.  You are with me every time I’m out there.  I enjoy being out there and I also enjoy sharing with you.  I know how hard it is not to be able to get out and enjoy nature.  Let’s enjoy nature and God’s beauty together this way.
