Wednesday and Friday Workouts – This Saturday ‘Our Open House’!

Friends,

MS-Just Keep Moving Open House this Saturday
Date:  Saturday, November 8th
Time: 1:00 – 4:00pm
Place:  MS-Just Keep Moving, Inc.
W228N791 Westmound Drive
Waukesha, WI  53816

Is sure hope all of us with MS who come to the gym during the week come to the open house on Saturday.  This goes for people who haven’t come for a while too and our amazing volunteers.  We would love to demonstrate to all our supporters and loved ones what our MS-Just Keep Moving Family does together on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings.

Let’s have some fun on Saturday like we do during the week. 😊

Who should come?

Halloween FUN!

Last Friday, I looked around and thought to myself…Wow!  Who would have ever thought a bunch of people with MS would have so much Halloween fun together while getting a good HIIT circuit workout in.

We had people from Waldo to witches having fun together.

Even the seated balance class was very spirited.  So much fun…and beneficial in so many ways!  Thanks to all who make this possible and to all who engage.  I know this isn’t easy for most.

More rebounding opportunities for the rest of the fall, winter and early spring
Rebounding has helped many of us with and without MS make life changing progress since last winter.  We will be offering more opportunities for our friends with MS, volunteers and loved ones Monday through Friday going forward.  I would highly encourage you to take advantage of these extremely beneficial opportunities.  Consistency is so helpful.

How did Rick do last week?
Last Wednesday was a rough day for Rick and he couldn’t make it in.  He said he didn’t sleep well and was fatigued in the morning

Rick showed up on Friday and once again, did amazing.  He was able to walk 200 feet when he got here.  He did the 20 minute shake and bake rejuvenation therapy and walked 600 feet which is three times the amount he could walk the 20 minutes before.  Again, he was fatigued after that.

He did another 20 minute shake and bake rejuvenation therapy and then walked another 300 feet and could have kept going.  He ended up walking 1,100 feet total.  Truly amazing!

Great job Rick!  Thanks for sharing your journey with us.

I’m really thankful JoAnn Schmitz came in and taught us about the lymphatic system and what she teaches patients when they come to her.  It’s been fun putting her knowledge to use and seeing the results.  Thanks JoAnn!

Rebounding on the trampolines pumps our lymphatic system as well.

Nutrition Program
Janine will be back next Monday.  We missed you Janine…welcome back!

When we started this, we were hoping we would build a community around nutrition.  I’m thankful to know this is happening.  I hope it continues to grow and more people will benefit from the program and from each other.

This week our nutrition group discussed Pepper.  The benefits and risks of Pepper and how you can incorporate it into your life.  Here’s a recipe Janine shared including some pepper.  The rest of the recipe is in the handout at the link below.

5-Ingredient Pasta Bake
280-300g [~10 oz] pasta
1 small onion sliced
250g [8 oz] bacon diced
200ml [~7 oz] whipping/cooking cream
150g [5 oz] grated cheddar cheese
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp coarse black pepper

Here’s a link to the handout:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/17Syn9t9YAz0aW6H5sEz6IQ_Ie50tUCtS/view?usp=sharing

Janine puts a lot into these presentations.  It’s wonderful for her to share these presentations with those who can’t be here.  It’s even more impactful for people who can be here in person to get the information first hand and be able to get questions answered and learn from others living with MS.

I would highly encourage you to engage in our nutrition program Monday mornings @ 9:00am so you can benefit at a high level.  All are encouraged to come; people with MS, loved ones, care takers, volunteers, etc.

Thank you, Janine!

Let’s think spring so we can get back out there again!  Until Spring…Let’s Bounce 😊 Check out our rebounding opportunities.

Research Needs us!
Marquette University and UW Milwaukee both have research opportunities they would like us to engage in.  We have flyers and more information about these opportunities at the gym and inserted below.  Please engage in these opportunities if you qualify.  You could make improvements yourself and you could be helping so many other people with MS as they face their challenges.  We really need to get this MS thing figured out and you can help by engaging in these research opportunities.

Let’s reach out
I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone.  Perhaps you could call someone that you have not talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they are doing.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.

MS is tough.  Let’s have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices and take action.

Let’s keep moving, smiling, and loving 😊  It helps!

In God We Trust…we are in good hands.

P.S.  This is a really colorful time of the year to be out in nature.  Fall colors are peaking around here right now.

I spent a lot of time trying to get a picture of a leaf falling.  If you’d like a good challenge, try it sometime.  This is the best I could do this week.  Perhaps I will get a better one soon.

Inside the woods are colorful right now.

Let’s take a closer look at some colorful leaves.

This little bird is enjoying the fall season.

This deer looks like he was scratching his chin with a branch

These two were getting along quite well.

Say Hi!

There was one spot on my walk yesterday that I saw this school.  This is the Lutheran School on Ryan Road in Pewaukee.  I was walking in Ryan Park across the street.  If you haven’t been there, it’s a nice place to walk.

Here’s a sunset in our backyard with a small cross on a fence post

Beautiful sunsets never get old.  This was our backyard Sunday evening.

For those who can’t get out and enjoy nature due your challenges with MS…my heart is with you.  You are with me every time I’m out there.  I enjoy being out there and I also enjoy sharing with you.  I know how hard it is not to be able to get out and enjoy nature.  Let’s enjoy nature and God’s beauty together this way.
