Friends,
Craft Fair / Bake Sale – This Friday and Saturday
Our second annual craft fair / bake sale will be held at the gym this Friday, Nov. 22nd from 10:00am – 1:00pm and Saturday, Nov. 23rd from 9:00am – 2:00pm. If you are bringing baked goods, please bring them early Friday.
Please come and support our own people sharing their talents. Some sales will be cash only so bring money if you’d like to support us.
Hiking Opportunities
I joined these hikes for a couple weeks and really enjoyed them.
It’s fun to explore different places with friends right here in our own backyard. Here’s a note from Steve Schwan about hiking opportunities.
MS – Just Keep Hiking – Not too long ago, Ricky and Chrissy decided to take a hike! Well, as fun things usually go around here, it caught on. Currently there are up to 10 members that go hiking thru the beautiful Kettle Moraine for around 4 miles between 2pm and 4pm on Monday afternoons! We communicate via a text message group that you’re invited to join. Just ask Ricky, Chrissy, JoAnn, or Steve for more info or an invite text.
But wait there’s more!!! Everyone who can walk a short distance, or who has a partner to push them along in a wheelchair, can join in on Monday November 25th!!! It’s because we’re staying out of the woods due to hunting. We’ll be hiking / walking along an accessible pathway with a beautiful boardwalk and alongside a river, starting at Centennial Park in Hartland. See the link below for directions. Steve will stay back with anyone who only wants to go a short and slow distance!! This will be a test to gauge interest for next Spring, when we’re thinking we could hike a paved pathway or bike trail once a month to the benefit of our larger membership. So ask about details this Wednesday and Friday at the gym. Please get on the text list, and join us Monday at 2pm sharp!!

Evening open gym for working people with MS
Dr Kate Kern has offered to have some open gym hours for working people with MS soon. Through the years, we’ve had many requests from people who work during the day that live with MS to have some hours available that they could come by us. Dr Kern is willing to give this a try and see if we can help more people with MS.
If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please e-mail Dr Kate Kern directly at kborn1234@gmail.com
Ready for rebounding?
I’m excited! The day has finally come. We received our (10) Bellicon rebounders. Tom and Ron worked hard with me to get them all put together so we can use them right away. Thanks, Tom, for all your help!
Thanks, Ron, for all your help too!
They’re ready for some bouncing fun 😊
We had six of us try them out…success! Big smiles on all six of us 😊. It’s really fun to bounce together.
I’m really excited about these and I am hoping they will be life changing in a good way for many of our friends with MS…like rebounding has been for me. I would encourage you to start bouncing on them gradually. As fun as it can be, let’s be sure not to do too much too soon. We can receive the benefits of rebounding without getting too aggressive. Let’s gradually build up over time.
Ed and Adam’s Podcast
Last week, Adam and Ed had a nice conversation with John Haupt. John shared his story of living with MS since 1972 @ 16 years old. John shares his perspective about our MS-Just Keep Moving gym, his handcycling passion and the TOAD series, his role at the Ability Center, interest in music, etc.

Educational Sessions
Friday, November 22nd 11:00am – 12:00 pm: The benefits of dance for persons with MS are becoming more well known and appreciated. In fact, Danish MS Centers promote and provide ballroom dance for their patients! However, there is no need to go to Denmark to reap the physical and emotional benefits of social dance. Please join Ms. Jessica Fastabend from the non-profit Danceworks for a fun sampler of what Dance for MS is all about. No experience needed and two left feet are allowed.
Friday, December 6th 11:00am – 12:00 pm: There is evidence that ballet-based dance movements can help women and men living with MS. Ms Melissa Anderson from Danceworks will lead us in ballet based rhythmic movements designed to help you! Have no fear, no experience needed, only a willingness to have some fun and release your inner ballerina or danseur!
Friday, December 13th 11:00am – 12:00 pm – Jamie Wolfe, nurse practitioner and MS certified nurse at ProHealth, will share with us about resources available to those living with MS from a clinical perspective.
Future topics could include: emotional health, nutrition, yoga, tai chi, wellness topics, safe use of gym equipment for your body, best exercise for you and more. What topics would you like to see? Please let Dr Kate, Joan, Traci, Ricky or Dan know.
Let’s get together!
We’ll be getting together from 8:00am – noon on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at the gym. I hope you’ll join us!

Thai Massage with Ricky Heldt
Ricky will be here on Wednesdays doing Thai Massage.
There is a sign-up board to be used to accommodate your needs for your exercise plan. Some people with spasticity need to be massaged / stretched out before they can exercise. Some people need a massage after a hard workout to loosen up their tight muscles or relieve pain.
We have limited spots for massages, please be considerate of people that need the massage the most in order to do the exercises they need to do or recover from the exercises they just did.
You can pick the time slot that works for you.
Reiki with Linda and Mary Linda and Mary will be here on Fridays doing Reiki. Many people say their Reiki work is “magical”. We’re thankful for Linda and Mary for sharing their gifts and talents with us. Feel free to let them know you’d like to do Reiki with them. They also have a sign-up sheet.

Let’s reach out
I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone. Perhaps you could call someone that you have not talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they are doing. We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.
MS is tough. Let’s have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices and take action.
Let’s keep moving, smiling and loving 😊 It helps!
In God We Trust…we are in good hands.

P.S. I had a little more fun with the camera this past week. I had the Sandhill Crane in our backyard with some nice light at sunset.
This one gave me a nice look at his wing span
I was out Lapham Peak with Cal. We saw these deer loving each other up a bit
I like seeing the love that is shared in nature
For the most part, the woods look brown now but we did find a little color
It’s always fun to look for something that stands out a bit and then take a picture of it
Even these tree stumps look like they’re happy together. I like that word…together.
Ducks are always fun to take pictures of
Especially when you catch them landing
And flying
Here’s a little closer view
Do ducks praise the Good Lord? It sure looks like they do.
For those who can’t get out and enjoy nature due your challenges with MS…my heart is with you. You are with me every time I’m out there. I enjoy being out there and I also enjoy sharing with you. I know how hard it is not to be able to get out and enjoy nature. Let’s enjoy nature and God’s beauty together this way.
