MS – Just Keep Moving

Friends,

Jill and Keith’s daughter Ashley who ran across the entire United States for MS and then formed MS Run The US Relay raising awareness and money for all of us living with MS will be visiting us on Wednesday morning.  Ashley has a favor to ask of us to volunteer at a local run series this winter.  She would like us to come to some of the runs to cheer people on and thank them for running for us.  The funds from the runs will go to Ashley’s initiatives to help people with MS through MS Run The US.  Ashley will bring more information tomorrow morning.

Do you shop on Amazon?  If you do, our non-profit MS-Just Keep Moving, Inc is an approved non-profit with the Amazon Smile program which is a program that Amazon donates a portion of each sale to the non-profit.  Through Nov 2, AmazonSmile is donating 5% (ten times the usual amount) to MS – Just Keep Moving Inc when you shop at smile.amazon.com/ch/82-1316966. #AmazonSmile #StartWithaSmile

Please choose MS-Just Keep Moving, Inc as your smile program non-profit if you order anything on Amazon.  It won’t cost you anymore and we’ll get a donation from Amazon because you chose us.  Thank YOU!

Do you remember earlier this year when the Kathy and Jane from 100+ Women Who Care were here and presented us with some donations some of their people donated to us?  Guess, what.  I received news that they will be joining us again on Friday.  It sounds like they have another surprise for us.  I hope you’re here to welcome them and help me thank them.  Thank you Kathy and John for putting in a good word for us!

Todd gets a little creative, sometimes doesn’t he?  Who would have thought Todd would be on the Stairmaster?  If there’s a will there’s a way…right Todd?  Let us know when you get the right combination, we have many others hoping to get on there!

Wasn’t it fun to see Shaun working hard on the battle ropes last week?  Way to go Shaun!  It’s also awesome to see Darice walking so straight.  I can still remember how excited we were when Darice took her first 8 steps.  Way to go Shaun and Darice!

Shaun loves to exercise “with” others.  He also likes to talk with people.

Please help Shaun keep moving by offering to exercise “with” him and chat with him “while” he’s moving.  We all need to help each other.

Warren did such an awesome job on the new stairs; it’s good to see so many people using them.  Now his wife Darice needs to come here to use them though.  You look good on there Darice with Warren by your side!  First walking, now stairs.  I really hope you master them!  Keep up the hard work!  I know this isn’t easy.

I love it when someone asks Bill if he wants to try something new.  These news stairs looked so tempting, he just had to give it a try.  I was actually watching Kathy.  She was about as entertaining, scared and excited as Bill.  We sure have awesome volunteers that make experiences like this possible for people.  Way to go Bill and team!

Talk about determination with a smile…Wendy is just that.  She’s loving these new stairs.  I don’t even know how many times she went up and down them.  It was quite a few and she was smiling the entire time being thankful for every step she climbs.  Thanks for working so hard and for sharing your journey Wendy!  It’s been a journey hasn’t it?

We all need to “Just Keep Moving”!  It doesn’t matter where we start.  We can start with laughing which is great exercise in itself.  Other than that, we start with the body parts that will move and keep moving them as much as we can.  Let them rest and then move them again.

I know there are still many of us going through other life challenges in addition to our challenges with MS.  Let’s stick together, keep our chins up and keep sharing our journey.  Better days are ahead.  For those of you who haven’t been able to make it by us on Wednesdays and Fridays lately, please know you are missed and in my thoughts and prayers.  I hope you’re able to make it back soon!

I hope you’ll join us both Wednesday and Friday again this week.   Remember…consistency is key.  With MS, it takes a lot of consistent effort every day to make small improvements.  Yes, it’s frustrating so be patient and consistent and you’ll be amazed how your quality of life will continue to improve.  It’s been about 17 years of exercising just about every day for me and I’m still making improvements (encouragement, love, support, nutritionand proper rest help immensely too).  It takes time so please be patient.  It sure is better than MS getting worse.  I really don’t know what my life would be like if I didn’t do this (nor do I want to find out).  I’m so thankful you are all joining me on this journey of making progress with our MS and quality of life…THANK YOU!  We’ll continue to learn together…there’s so much power in the love and support we all share with each other.

In the past, I’ve been telling you to bring a friend.  Unfortunately, we’re going to need to start a waiting list for new people.  Please feel free to continue to share your experience and what we’re doing together.  Let me know of anyone who would like to join us.  I’ll communicate with these people through e-mail or phone and help them any way I can.  When we have room for them to join us, I’ll encourage them to do that.  If you’ve joined us in the past, please continue to join us.

We are here to help you and anyone with MS…no strings attached (well maybe an occasional story about the progress you’re making, smile, high five or a hug).  I remember how challenging life used to be when my MS was bad.  I get great joy sharing what I’ve learned and feel blessed with the progress I’ve made.  I hope you make progress in some way too!
