Friends,

I have a lot of information to share this week so I appologize ahead of time for the long e-mail.  It’s been a busy and exciting week in may ways.  Good stuff!

Last week Wednesday, it was -14 degrees and we still had a gym full of volunteers and friends with MS.  Amazing!

I was thinking we might have a lighter crowd due to the weather…not so.  That just warms my heart on a cold day.  We are so blessed and fortunate to have so much will and dedication from our volunteers and friends with MS.  Thank you for joining us in such cold weather!

Last Friday I wasn’t there for long but it was inspiring the few minutes I was there.  Dr Becky Thomas dropped off a walking frame on Thursday.  It didn’t take long to put it to good use.  You’re looking good Lynn!

I understand quite a few people put this to the test the first day.  Makes me smile!

Many of us living with MS are challenged with balance.  We all know how challenging it is for Todd to walk smoothly.  That’s certainly not stopping him from learning how to ride a unicycle.  A unicycle?  Todd? Yes, Todd.  Yes, a unicyle!  Is he going to get there?  I don’t know but he’s made a lot of progress so far.  Time will tell.  He’s certainly working hard to master it.  Go for it Todd!

A huge thank you goes out to our volunteers.  We are so fortunate to have all our volunteers.  Thank you so much for being a volunteer!

Jerry Huhn has some good stuff for all of us.  As you have noticed, Jerry put numbers on all our machines.  He also put a machine maintenance log book together with all the machines listed.  He’s also doing the maintenance on all the machines and making them run like new.

If you see any problems with any of the machines, please fill out a maintenance required sheet and Jerry will get it fixed.  Thanks Jerry!

Jerry is also putting together a personal exercise log program that we can record all the exercise we are doing, set some goals, achieve our goals and make progress.  He has this displayed at the gym and we will explain it if you have any questions.  This is to benefit you personally.  I hope you’ll engage in it!

It’ll be fun to see the progress you personally make if you engage in this program.  I hope it helps you stay motivated.  Thanks for doing this for us Jerry!

Terry Frett helped me pick up some more really nice donated equipment this past weekend and put it back to gether so we can use it already this week.

Thanks for your help Terry!

You’ll have to come and see what the new equipment is.  You’re going to like it!  Perhaps I’ll show some pictures of it next week.

Winter’s almost over, let’s start thinking about bike riding.  Who will be riding trikes this spring, summer and fall?

We want to make sure we have enough trikes for everyone that wants to ride.  This year, Jerry will have them all numbered and maintained.  We’d like to have the same person riding the same trike as much as we can so we don’t have to make as many adjustments.  We’d like to get the trike adjusted to you during the winter so we’re ready to ride in the spring (or sooner on a nice day at the gym).

If you’re interested in riding with us at 7:00am Friday mornings this spring, summer and fall, please let me know.  We’ve had some very kind and generous donars donate some funds to us.  If we need more trikes, we’d like to get them ordered now so we’re ready to ride as soon as the weather gets nice.

COVID numbers are finally starting to come down locally.  I feel like celebrating but not quite yet.  We’re going to get through this thing…eventually.  I’m still highly encouraging each of us to be socially responsible and help us all be safe.  I’m not telling you what to do but I’m asking you and highly encouraging you to wear a mask when you’re in close proximity to someone else; whether you’ve been vaccinated or not.  We want to remain open and we need to do it safely.

Please stay home if you have any symptoms or know you’ve been exposed to someone with the virus.  Please don’t come until your symptoms go away.  Let’s also give each other some space when talking to one another and continue wiping the machines down before and after you use them with disinfectant.  Again…let’s be socially responsible and stay safe!

We’ll be getting together again from 9:00am – noon on Wednesday and Friday mornings at the gym.  I hope you’ll join us!

John’s Video I’ve received lots of positive comments about this the past couple weeks.  I thought I’d leave the link here yet this week.

It’s a video that might help us come to the gym and JUST KEEP MOVING during these cold winter days. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_XJHUX92lU

Feel free to join our Facebook community and share pictures and experiences of your own.  We’re up to 165 members now…awesome! https://www.facebook.com/groups/2639832389489709

If you have Ricky work on you this week, please be sure to wear a mask.  We have masks available if you need one.  We don’t want Ricky to pick the virus up from one person and get sick much less take the risk of spreading it to others.  Let’s keep Ricky safe as well as everyone else.

Many continue making great progress with chronic pain relief, range of motion, walking better and a new sense of hope when Ricky does his magic to you.  Please keep in mind that consistency is key.  Not only with Ricky…with exercise too.  We need consistency to realize the benefits long term.  We want you to have long term relief.

Ricky has a sign up sheet based on first come first serve.  You can pick the time slot that works for you.  I highly encourage you to take advantage of Ricky’s Tai Massages each day and sign up for your time slot as soon as you get there.

MS-Just Keep Sharing.  We’ll be having our sharing group in person this Wednesday @ 11:00am.  I just love the way we share, pray together and witness prayers being answered weekly.  Thanks goes to God and to everyone that joins us.  Let’s get together to share, listen, talk, give thanks and pray however God leads us.

We’ll be having our inspirational humor zoom call with Adam again next Tuesday.  Adam is a gift to all of us.  Please join us if you can.

I encourage you to share a smile with someone.  Perhaps you could call someone that you haven’t talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they’re doing.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.

MS is tough.  Let’s stay calm, focused, healthy, flexible, have faith and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices.  Better days are ahead.

In God We Trust!
Dan
