Friends,

This week you’ll learn about more exciting initiatives and opportunities going on in our MS communities.

A good friend of mine, Jim Wuhrmann is helping to make mats for the homeless out of plastic grocery bags.  This is a lot of work!

We’d like to supply Jim with more bags; so instead of throwing your plastic grocery bags away, please bring them to the gym and put them in the box for Jim.  He cuts them up into strips and then they get crochet’d into mats.  Here’s a 2 minute 52 second video explaining the process.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JNe-hce0sY

Please start saving your bags and bringing them to the gym…thank you!

Many of you know Jim and Cee Cee who used to come to the gym.  We still miss them.

Unfortunately, we lost Jim in June of 2020.  Since then Cee Cee donated their trikes to us which gave many people with MS an opportunity to ride the e-trike as well as the other trike.

Cee Cee has now opened Cee Cee’s Elblow room to provide a place for friends to gather and enjoy some good food, drinks and fellowship.  Some of us will be going there Wednesday @ 4:00.  Join us if you can.  Let’s support Cee Cee as often as we can.  I’m sure she’d love to see us again.  Here’s an article with a little more information.

Last week it warmed my heart when Lisa, Suzanne and Donna were able to stand together and share some conversation and laughs.  I’m so thankful for all the people who donated the standing machines and our volunteers that help them to make this possible.  Beautiful!

As we live with MS, it’s sometimes hard to see the beauty of each day.  In fact, it can get pretty dark and depressing knowing we have to deal with this on a daily basis and we don’t have a cure.  As I’ve been hanging out with Cal more through this entire pandemic, his eye for seeing the beauty around us has grown on me.  He has a gift of seeing the beauty through the lens of his camera and capturing the moment so he can share it with others.

Sunday evening, I went out in the backyard with an MS-Just Keep Moving sign, a handsaw and my camera at sunset.  I sawed a little groove in a fence post that would hold the sign up.  I waited for the sun to set and shot this picture.  Cal showed me how to use Lightroom so I enhanced it and rotated it a little.  I have to say, I saw the beauty in the sunset while I was thinking about all of you.

Today was kind of a gloomy and dark day with a lot of ice.  I went out to feed our birds and noticed the beauty of the ice on our pine tree.  A picture like this is hard to take on a warm, bright and sunny day.  God’s beauty is there when we look for it; even when we live with MS.  Some days we need to look a little harder and a little closer than others.

COVID numbers are finally starting to come down locally.  I feel like celebrating but not quite yet.  We’re going to get through this thing…eventually.  I’m still highly encouraging each of us to be socially responsible and help keep us all safe.  I’m not telling you what to do but I’m asking you and highly encouraging you to wear a mask when you’re in close proximity to someone else; whether you’ve been vaccinated or not.  We want to remain open and we need to do it safely.

Please stay home if you have any symptoms or know you’ve been exposed to someone with the virus.  Please don’t come until your symptoms go away.  Let’s also give each other some space when talking to one another and continue wiping the machines down before and after you use them with disinfectant.  Again…let’s be socially responsible and stay safe!

We’ll be getting together again from 9:00am – noon on Wednesday and Friday mornings at the gym.  I hope you’ll join us!

We made our Facebook page private now.  That means you’ll need to join if you want access to all our fun and progress.  Lots of people are doing more and more and sharing their journey on Facebook.  Feel free to join.  We’re up to 176 members now…awesome! https://www.facebook.com/groups/2639832389489709

If you have Ricky work on you this week, please be sure to wear a mask.  We have masks available if you need one.  We don’t want Ricky to pick the virus up from one person and get sick much less take the risk of spreading it to others.  Let’s keep Ricky safe as well as everyone else.

Many continue making great progress with chronic pain relief, range of motion, walking better and a new sense of hope when Ricky does his magic to you.  Please keep in mind that consistency is key.  Not only with Ricky…with exercise too.  We needconsistency to realize the benefits long term.  We want you to have long term relief.

Ricky has a sign up sheet based on first come first serve.  You can pick the time slot that works for you.  I highly encourage you to take advantage of Ricky’s Tai Massages each day and sign up for your time slot as soon as you get there.

MS-Just Keep Sharing.  We’ll be having our sharing group in person this Wednesday @ 11:00am.  This week the theme will be about things we wish were different.  That’s a loaded topic as we live with MS.

I just love the way we share, pray together and witness prayers being answered weekly.  Thanks goes to God and to everyone that joins us.  Let’s get together to share, listen, talk, give thanks and pray however God leads us.

We’ll be having our inspirational humor zoom call with Adam again next Tuesday.  Adam is a gift to all of us.  Please join us if you can.

I encourage you to share a smile with someone.  Perhaps you could call someone that you haven’t talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they’re doing.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.

MS is tough.  Let’s have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices.

Let’s keep moving and smiling 😊

In God We Trust…we’re in good hands
