Friends,

We had a fun week last week on Wednesday and Friday.  It seemed like everyone was in a good mood and enjoying each other.  It was also good to see so many people working hard and having fun doing it.

A highlight that sticks with me from last week was that we had a new couple join us.  Cathie has MS and her husband Dave came along with her.  Dave is willing to help anyone who needs help.  Cathie had an opportunity to experience Reiki with Linda and had an awesome experience.  She said “that was amazing, I’m going to research Reiki and learn more about it”.  Thank you Linda for giving Cathie such a great experience!

Nutrition Program – Our nutrition program with Alison will be starting this Friday, April 29th from 11:00am – 12:00.  You might want to come in and do your exercise a little early on Friday so you can join us with our nutrition program @11:00.  This is going to be an active program that we’ll be trying different foods and learning why they’re good for us, especially as we’re trying to beat MS.  Alison is highly educated and experienced helping people with nutrition plus… she’s a great teacher / leader.  We’re fortunate to have her leading us.  I hope you’ll join us!

Let’s move!  I get asked quite often, who do you see making the most progress?  As we all know, MS is different for all of us.  We’re all at different levels of mobility.  The people who can get their heart rates up with some sort of aerobic exercise seem to make the most progress.

There are lots of ways to get our heart rates up and sweat a little.  Let’s keep working toward that.  I know, it’s a challenge for most of us.  For those who aren’t able to get their heart rates up and sweat a little; repetion of whatever you can do is beneficial.  Stretching is also essential for us living with MS.  I know I need to stretch more.

Once again, for all of us living with MS, consistency is key.  Our bodies like and need LOTS of repetition to make lasting progress.

Tee’d Off At MS Golf Outing Friday, June 10th.  A huge THANK YOU goes out to all who are helping plan and contributing to this event.  I feel it’s going to be an awesome and memorable experience in so many ways.

We still need items, services or events to raffle or auction off.  If you know of any individuals, businesses or services who are willing to donate to the golf outing please let us know and bring any item to the gym with its accompanying value.  There will be donor golf outing information flyers available at the gym that you can use when asking for donations.  We’ll need all items in by June 1.

 Bike Fitting
Our bike fitting is coming along well.  If you haven’t been fit for a trike or a bike yet for our Friday morning rides, let’s get that done this week.  If you’re going to wear clip in shoes, please bring your shoes to the gym so we can get your bike set up for you.  We will be doing our best to have the same person riding the same bike each week this year.  Hopefully, we’ll be able to get them hooked up and get riding a little more swiftly every Friday morning.

Friday Morning Bike Rides
I was hoping to be able to start our Friday morning bike rides this Friday.  Our low limit for temperature is 45 degrees.  It looks like this Friday morning will only be 40 degrees.  That’s close!  As much as I’d like to get started, I really want it to be a good experience for everyone.  Let’s wait another week and see what the weather is like next week.  If it’s nice when we’re at the gym, we can take some practice rides through the industrial park.

Brenda and Melissa were having fun trying the trikes out last week.  All we need now is some warmer weather at 7:00am.

COVID numbers are starting to go back up locally.  I’m still highly encouraging each of us to be socially responsible and help keep us all safe.  I’m highly encouraging you to wear a mask when you’re in close proximity to someone else; whether you’ve been vaccinated or not.  We’ve all been dealing with this long enough and are very well educated on it by now.  Let’s make good choices and be safe.

Please stay home if you have any symptoms or know you’ve been exposed to someone with the virus.  Please don’t come until your symptoms go away.  Let’s also give each other some space when talking to one another and continue wiping the machines down before and after you use them with disinfectant.  Again…let’s be socially responsible and stay safe!

Let’s get together!
We’ll be getting together again from 9:00am – noon on Wednesday and Friday mornings at the gym.  I hope you’ll join us!

Tai Massage with Ricky Heldt  Ricky will be here Wednesday and Friday again this week doing Tai Massage.  Ricky says he is comfortable to work with you even if you’re not wearing a mask.  Ricky will continue to wear one to protect you.

Many continue making great progress with chronic pain relief, range of motion, walking better and a new sense of hope when Ricky works with them.  Please keep in mind that consistency is key.  Not only with Ricky…with exercise too.  We need consistency to realize the benefits long term.  We want you to have long term relief.

Ricky has a sign up sheet based on first come first serve.  You can pick the time slot that works for you.  I highly encourage you to take advantage of Ricky’s Tai Massages each day and sign up for your time slot as soon as you get there.

Reiki with Linda  Linda will be here on Fridays doing Reiki.  Many people say Linda’s Reiki work is “magical”.  We’re thankful for Linda offering her gifts and talents to us.

Feel free to let Linda know you’d like to do Reiki with her.  She also has a sign up sheet.

Prayer Group  We’ll be having our prayer group Wednesday @ 11:00am.

I just love the way we share, pray together and witness prayers being answered weekly.  Thanks goes to God and to everyone that joins us.  Let’sget together to share, listen, talk, give thanks and pray however God leads us.

I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone.  Perhaps you could call someone that you haven’t talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they’re doing.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.

MS is tough.  Let’s have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices.

Let’s keep moving and smiling 😊

In God We Trust…we’re in good hands

P.S.  It seemed like we had quite a bit of rain this past week.  I happened to get a picture of this turkey playing peek a boo in the rain

Here’s another picture of the same turkey.  Beautiful bird even in the rain
