Friends,
Nutrition Program this Friday
Alison Tierney from Wholesome LLC will be here again this Friday @ 11:00am for our nutrition program.
The format of our nutrition program is very interactive. You will learn from others and from Alison. Youâll get opportunities to ask your own questions as well in this interactive format.
Thereâs a lot of research pointing to the cause of MS and many other autoimmune diseases being caused by the microbiomes in our gut. Alison has dug very deep into this subject and will be sharing lots of information about our gut health, why itâs so critical for us living with MS and what we can do about it now. I hope you will join us so you can benefit from this information. This is going to be an interesting session.
It seems like we have many people being challenged with digestive challenges right now. Hopefully you can get some suggestions that you can apply right away. Again, I hope youâll join us.
How are you handling the heat?
Summer is here and the heat is generally NOT real MS friendly for those of us living with MS. Lately, for me, the heat has been zapping me of energy and causing fatigue. Does that mean we avoid the heat? Thatâs probably a good choice if you canât tolerate it. Weâre all different and we need to listen to our bodies.
It seems like heat can flair up our MS symptoms but studies show it does not make our MS as a disease worse. I like to get out in the heat in short intervals at first and then gradually build my endurance up as the season goes on. Usually, my body adapts to it as the summer goes on.
On some of the hot bike rides I go on, my legs will start burning and then turn into neurological pain, weakness and fatigue. Finally, theyâll shut down and Iâll need to lay in the ditch and recover a bit before going any further. Itâs scary at the time but I do recover and Iâm generally ok the next day. If I stand on ice with my bare feet when it does this, that generally helps immensely.
If you take a water bottle or two and put them in the freezer, they work great for me when that neurogical burning sensations or pain needs some attention. I just roll the frozen water bottles on the ground or floor with my bare feet. This works well for me. Hopefully it will work well for you too. Give it a tryâŚitâs free and itâs refreshing.
As far as the gym goes, we have air conditioning at the gym so you donât need to worry about the heat once you get here. In other words, donât let the heat keep you from joining us đ
Golf Outing â THANK YOU!
Again, thank you to everyone who donated raffle items, silent auction items, sponsored holes, participated, volunteered, gave donations, etc. The golf outing was a great success for our MS-Just Keep Moving, Inc. non-profit due to your contributions. It would not have been with you. THANK YOU!
Letâs get together!
Weâll be getting together again from 9:00am â noon on Wednesday and Friday mornings at the gym. I hope youâll join us!

Prayer Group Weâll be having our prayer group Wednesday @ 11:00am.
I just love the way we share, pray together and witness prayers being answered weekly. Itâs amazing! Thanks goes to God and to everyone that joins us. Letâs get together to share, listen, talk, give thanks and pray however God leads us.
Friday Morning Bike Rides
Letâs ride as long as itâs not raining. Weâll be meeting Friday morning at 7:00am at Nettesheim Park in Pewaukee. Itâs on the SE corner of Hwy SS and Oak Street. The GPS address is: N26W27495 Prospect Ave, Pewaukee, WI 53072. Come a little early so you can get your bike out of your car and be ready to ride as close to 7:00 as possible. Weâll ride until about 8:45. Letâs ride and have some fun!
If you join us on a Friday morning bike ride, youâll experience something thatâs not real common. If you need a little help from friends getting up a hill, youâll get it. Fun rides!
We rode some pretty long hills last week. Keep in mindâŚhills are your friend. They make you stronger. If you donât believe me, ask Jerry Huhn about it. Heâs drilled that into my head for years. Right Jerry? Iâm just sharing it with you.
Check out the fist bump between Melissa and Jason for encouragement as Traci and Pete push with all their might. Everyone on the trikes are giving it their all. Amazing!
It was a beautiful day for a ride. When we ride early, we beat the heat đ.
For those of you who wish you could join us but canât; please know we have you in our hearts on these rides. Weâre riding with you and for you. I hope you too can join us someday. We really need to get this MS thing figured out. Letâs keep working on it together.
MS Bike Ride â Itâs time to get excited about the MS Bike Ride August 6th and 7th. This is going to be a fun ride with fun rest areas and inspirational stories of progress being made at the tent celebration Saturday night.
It supports a great cause thatâs near and dear to all our heartsâŚthe National MS Society who puts on amazing events like this and raises money to fund much needed research and programs for people with MS. Thatâs us, whether we want MS or not.
We need more research so we have more protocols to put into action with our MS-Just Keep Moving family. These emerging therapies and protocols are developed as a result of research funded by the National MS Society.
Here’s a link with more information about the bike ride. https://mssociety.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.team&teamID=15874
You can sign up on our Peppy Pedalerâs team from this link. Sign up early because the price keeps going up the closer we get to the event.
Letâs see how many people who love someone with MS we can get to ride as well as people that actually have MS on our Peppy Pedalerâs team this year. Actually, it doesnât matter which team you ride on; there are many great people on all the teams but weâd love to have you on our Peppy Pedaerâs Team. Iâd encourage you to ride on some team and help us raise money for the National MS Society while having a fun day of riding together.
MS Just Keep Caring â Our Caregivers support group will be the first and third Friday of each month from 10:00 â 10:30am. The next one will be Friday, July 1st. If youâre a caregiver of someone you love with MS, please join us and share your experience of caring for your loved one.  This has been very helpful for many. Thanks to all who participate!
COVID   Weâve all been dealing with this long enough and are very well educated on it by now. Letâs make good choices and be safe.
Please stay home if you have any symptoms or know youâve been exposed to someone with the virus. Please donât come until your symptoms go away. Letâs also give each other some space when talking to one another and continue wiping the machines down before and after you use them with disinfectant. AgainâŚletâs be socially responsible and stay safe!
Our Facebook page is now private. That means youâll need to join if you want access to all our fun and progress. Lots of people are doing more and more and sharing of their journey on Facebook. Feel free to join and share your experience and comments. Weâre now up to 219 membersâŚawesome!  https://www.facebook.com/groups/2639832389489709
Thai Massage with Ricky Heldt Ricky will be here Wednesday and Friday again this week doing Thai Massage. Ricky says he is comfortable to work with you even if youâre not wearing a mask. Ricky will continue to wear one to protect you.
Many continue making great progress with chronic pain relief, range of motion, walking better and a new sense of hope when Ricky works with them. Please keep in mind that consistency is key. Not only with RickyâŚwith exercise too. We need consistency to realize the benefits long term. We want you to have long term relief.
Ricky has a sign up sheet based on first come first serve. You can pick the time slot that works for you. I highly encourage you to take advantage of Rickyâs Thai Massages each day and sign up for your time slot as soon as you get there.
Reiki with Linda Linda will be here on Fridays doing Reiki. Many people say Lindaâs Reiki work is âmagicalâ. Weâre thankful for Linda offering her gifts and talents to us. Feel free to let Linda know youâd like to do Reiki with her.  She also has a sign up sheet.
Linda is also teaching a Reiki Class this Saturday. Hereâs a message from Linda about it and more info:

Letâs reach out
I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone. Perhaps you could call someone that you havenât talked with for a while just to say hi and see how theyâre doing. We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.
MS is tough. Letâs have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices.
Letâs keep moving and smiling đ
