Friends,

COVID is going around

We’ve had (4) of our MS-Just Keep Moving family members report to me they tested positive for COVID this past week plus some of my personal family members tested positive.  It sounds like everyone is doing ok with it.  I’m thankful for that.  I stayed away last week due to exposure and I’ve been masked up again way more than normal.  Personally, I’ve been fortunate enough to avoid it so far this time around.

To all who have reported their positive testing to me…thank you for letting me know and for being scocially responsible and staying away until your symptoms are all cleared up.  I hope you get through it quickly.  We like to share but we don’t want to share this.  You will be missed while you’re getting through this and we look forward to having you back soon.

We’ve all been dealing with this long enough and are very well educated on it by now.  Let’s make good choices and be safe.

Please stay home if you have any symptoms or know you’ve been exposed to someone with the virus.  Please don’t come until your symptoms go away.  Let’s also give each other some space when talking to one another and continue wiping the machines down before and after you use them with disinfectant.  Again…let’s be socially responsible and stay safe!

T-Shirt Sizes needed

We’re getting some new T-Shirts made.  If you’re a person living with MS or a volunteer, please get your T-Shirt size to Shelley Davis.  Please give Shelley your size at the gym or e-mail Shelley your size @ 33smdavis@gmail.com by this Wednesday, October 12th .

Open House is 3-1/2 weeks away

Our Open House will be Saturday, November 5th from 2:00 – 5:00PM.  We will be having a presentation from 3:00 – 4:00.  We’ll be sharing and giving thanks.  Here is a link to the invitation:  MS-JKM-2022-11-05 Open House flyer.  Feel free to share it with anyone you know that would appreciate what we do and would like to learn more about us.

Organization / Cleaning and Safety

Once again… a huge thank you goes out Pam and Laura for getting the organization and cleaning of the gym started.  They’ve received many compliments and thank you’s.  Keep them coming .  Thank you Pam and Laura!

Thank you to all who are joining Laura and Pam!  It was awesome to see so many of you this morning helping out.  The gym is looking and smelling much better already!  THANK YOU!

I understand more people are coming in on Thursday to help clean.  Thank you!  We could use a couple more strong people to help move machines so we can scrub the floors under them.  We need some muscles .

If you’re willing to help or know someone who is, please let Laura know so she can start some separate communication with the people who are willing.  You can e-mail Laura:  twokuks@gmail.com   Again, thank you to all who have already responded and are helping to clean!  We’ll all benefit from a cleaner place to gather.

Cal’s Inspirations

Have you been to our website lately and experienced Cal’s inspirations?  Each week, he posts an incredible photo he took himself with an inspirational message.  This is last weeks.

Here’s a link to Cal’s Inspirations on our website:  https://msjustkeepmoving.org/category/inspirations/

I know Cal would love to hear some feedback on these if you’d care to share.  You can e-mail Cal @ newbycal@gmail.com or mention it to him in person at the gym.

Water at the gym

Please start bringing your own water bottle to the gym.  We have a Culligan filtered water unit where you can fill your water bottle up.  It’s located in the lunch room.

Many people have been very generous and donated bottled water for many years.  Unfortunately, much of this gets wasted when someone opens a bottle and doesn’t finish it.  Let’s not waste it and use the bottled water only when people forget their own water bottle.

Also, please put recyclables only in the recycling containers and garbage only in the garbage cans.  The recycling container is the blue container with the recycling center symbol on it.  Thank for your cooperation with this!  Let’s be environmentally responsible.

Let’s get together!

We’ll be getting together again from 9:00am – noon on Wednesday and Friday mornings at the gym.  I hope you’ll join us!

Prayer Group  We’ll be having our prayer group Wednesday @ 11:00am.

I just love the way we share, pray and laugh together while we witness prayers being answered weekly.  It’s truly amazing!

Thanks goes to God and to everyone that joins us.  Let’s get together to share, listen, talk, give thanks and pray however God leads us.

MS Just Keep Caring – Our Caregivers support group will be the first and third Friday of each month from 10:00 – 10:30am.  The next one will be Friday, October 21st.  If you’re a caregiver of someone you love with MS, please join us and share your experience of caring for your loved one.  This has been very helpful for many.  Thanks to all who participate!

Friday Morning Bike Rides

By the looks of the forecast, it will not be 45 degrees until the afternoon on Friday.  It looks like it will be around 30 degrees @ 7:00.  Unfortunately, we will NOT be riding this Friday.

We didn’t get to ride last Friday for the same reason; it was too cold.  Bummer!

Hopefully, it will be warmer next Friday.

Our Facebook page is private.  That means you’ll need to join if you want access to all our fun and progress.  We’re now up to 272 members…awesome!   https://www.facebook.com/groups/2639832389489709

Our Facebook page is really getting active.  Lots of people are doing more and sharing some of their journey on Facebook.  Feel free to join and share your experience and comments.  Thank you to all who are sharing!

There were some awesome pictures and videos shared this past week.

Thai Massage with Ricky Heldt  Ricky will be here Wednesday and Friday again this week doing Thai Massage.  Ricky says he is comfortable to work with you even if you’re not wearing a mask.  Ricky will continue to wear one to protect you.

Many continue making great progress with chronic pain relief, range of motion, walking better and a new sense of hope when Ricky works with them.  Please keep in mind that consistency is key.  Not only with Ricky…with exercise too.  We need consistency to realize the benefits long term.  We want you to have long term relief.

Ricky has a sign up sheet based on first come first serve.  You can pick the time slot that works for you.  I highly encourage you to take advantage of Ricky’s Thai Massages each day and sign up for your time slot as soon as you get there.

Reiki with Linda  Linda will be here on Fridays doing Reiki.  Many people say Linda’s Reiki work is “magical”.  We’re thankful for Linda offering her gifts and talents to us.  Feel free to let Linda know you’d like to do Reiki with her.  She also has a sign up sheet.

Inspirational Humor with Adam Wollert

We’ll be having our inspirational humor zoom call with Adam again next Tuesday.  Adam is a gift to all of us.

Please join us if you can.

Let’s reach out

I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone.  Perhaps you could call someone that you haven’t talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they’re doing.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.

MS is tough.  Let’s have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices.

Let’s keep moving and smiling

In God We Trust…we’re in good hands

P.S.  I’ve been appreciating the beautiful fall colors this past week.  It’s fun to look at something simple in a way that’s interesting and share it with others…like this walnut.

And these leaves

They are on this beautiful tree is our yard.

I enjoyed a walk with Cal one morning this past week.  We enjoyed a beautiful sunrise together.

Sometimes we need to look beyond the obvious to experience who is with us…always.

As I’ve been driving home each day, I’ve been noticing some sunflowers by the Boy Scout building on Bluemound.  I just had to stop and take a picture of it to share.

For those who can’t get out and enjoy nature due your challenges with MS…my heart is with you.  You are with me every time I’m out there.
