Our Open House is this Saturday, November 5th from 2:00 – 5:00PM.  We’ll be having a presentation from 3:00 – 4:00.  We’ll be giving thanks and sharing stories, upcoming plans, etc.  I hope you will join us.

Please invite anyone you know that would appreciate what we do and would like to learn more about us.  I hope some people come.

Presentation on Foot Drop Study

Last week we had Dr Jenny Bartlett, a researcher from UW Madison do a presentation on a foot drop study she is doing.

It sounds like we have quite a few people here that would qualify as candidates for this study.  Please contact Dr Jenny Bartloff directly if you’re willing to participate in this study.

You might personally make progress through this study as well as provide knowledge to the researchers and the rest of us living with MS.  It would be awesome if we could help learn more about foot drop and ultimately, have a remedy for it.  I would encourage you to participate in this study if you qualify and are willing and able to.

Our new AV system worked out well for this educational presentation.  We’re looking forward to many more educational sessions in our future.

It’s nice that you’ll be able to keep exercising and ‘Just Keep Moving’ while we do educational sessions.  😊  Dreams do come true.

Our new video wall and audio system

Many people have asked me about our new video wall.  Jim Oliver and Phil Ransom put their brains and energy together to create our new video wall and audio system.  This was a do it yourself project that we had to learn as we go.

We kept our costs down by purchasing the equipment, building the wall and tying the technology together ourselves.  With Bonnie’s help, they shopped out all the components and found the best prices on them.  For the TV’s, Costco and Best Buy were tied for price and Best Buy had all four units in one store so they won.  I went and picked them up.

As soon as we had them at the gym, Jim Oliver and Phil Ransom got busy testing them out on the floor and getting the technology working before we built the wall.

When I asked Jim about helping with this, he said hmm…I don’t know anything about that.  He joined talents with Phil and did some research online.  The next thing you know, Jim was making adjustments and getting them to work together.

Since it looked we were going to get it to work, we went to Home Depot and bought the wood and supplies we would need to build the wall.  Then we started building the wall.

I had the pleasure of painting the wall.

It was tricky getting the TV mounts lined up so they are level and straight.  We needed to make quite a few adjustments before we were satisfied with them.

After a full weekend and Monday evening, we finally finished up Tuesday morning at about 1:00am.  Jim and I were pretty tired.  A couple of our employees at Wisconsin Metal parts helped hang it on the wall that Tuesday morning.

We had to be pretty carefull.  It actually went very smoothly.  I was relieved when it was finally secured on the wall without any damage.

For a project we didn’t know how to start, I think we did a nice job.  We are blessed to have smart and hard working people as part of our MS-Just Keep Moving family.  Thanks Bonnie, Phil and Jim!

And here it is…our new video wall.  We will utilize this for years to come providing educational experiences, entertainment and sharing our journey of living with MS weekly.  If you haven’t seen it yet, come Wednesday, Friday and to our open house on Saturday  We’ll be putting it to good use daily.

A huge thank you goes out to everyone who made this possible!  Let’s enjoy it together!

COVID is still going around

We still had (1) more of our MS-Just Keep Moving family members report to me they tested positive for COVID this past week.  He’s doing ok.  I think we’re finally getting through this surge of positive test results.

Ed is home and looking forward to getting back with us soon.  I’m so thankful Ed and everyone else is doing much better and getting through it.  It might take a while for people to regain their strength.  MS is challenging enough without having COVID on top of it.  Let’s be thankful everyone is getting through the COVID challenges.  We still need to get this MS thing figured out.

To all who have reported their positive testing to me…thank you for letting me know and for being socially responsible and staying away until your symptoms are all cleared up.  If you do come down with it, it’s important we let people know that you have been in close contact with so they can watch for symptoms and help stop the spread.

We’ve all been dealing with COVID long enough and are very well educated on it by now.  I’m not telling you what to do but I’d highly encourage you to wear a mask again if you haven’t had it recently.  It’s been going around our gym the past four weeks.  Let’s make good choices and be safe.

Please stay home if you have any symptoms or know you’ve been exposed to someone with the virus.  Please don’t come until your symptoms go away.  Let’s also give each other some space when talking to one another and continue wiping the machines down before and after you use them with disinfectant.  Again…let’s be socially responsible and stay safe!

 Recyclables and Garbage
Please put recyclables only in the blue recycling containers and garbage only in the garbage cans.  The recycling containers are the blue containers with the recycling center symbol on it.  Thank for your cooperation with this!  Let’s be environmentally responsible.

Let’s get together!
We’ll be getting together again from 9:00am – noon on Wednesday and Friday mornings at the gym.  I hope you’ll join us!

Let’s reach out
I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone.  Perhaps you could call someone that you have not talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they are doing.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.

MS is tough.  Let us have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices.

Let’s keep moving and smiling 😊

In God We Trust…we are in good hands

P.S.  Sunday morning I was driving to the gym before daylight.  I saw this in in the east and thought it might be a nice sunrise.  I know, not an impressive picture but I could see some of the light that might be shining through in a little while.

I turned my truck around, went home and grabbed my camera, my little wooden cross and headed to the Pewaukee Lake boat ramp.  I was thankful I turned around.

I was lucky to get there before the sun came over the horizon.

I like to take my little wooden cross along when I’m out appreciating God’s beauty.

If you pay attention at the open house, you might see a couple of these beautiful sunrise pictures on one of our videos😊

It truly was a beautiful morning.  I’m thankful I’m able to share it with you.

Many blessings!
