Friends,

Dr Robert Motl, Noah Bubose and Trevor Martin from the University of Illinois Chicago – Exercise Neuroscience Research Laboratory visited us last Friday and shared some really exciting research they are doing about biomarkers and exercise as a disease modifying therapy.  Their presentation was very educational.  They presented it in a manner that was very scientific yet they made it easy to understand.

We recorded it and will be sharing it on our webite soon.  Personally, I want to watch it again and take some notes.

I really loved the engagement we had, the questions that were asked and the answers we received.  I’m really excited about their work and looking forward to having them join us again in the near future.

Thank you goes out to Dr Motl, Noah and Trevor for coming here and sharing their knowledge and passion with us.  Their presentation gave me some newfound hope that we are heading in the right direction to getting MS figured out.

Here’s some information on a study they are doing that they invited us to participate in.  If you qualify and are willing to participate, I would highly encourage you to do so.

Students – tomorrow is their last day until Spetember!
Dr Becky Thomas, Dr Sarah Andreucci, Dr McKensie and their Physical Therapy Assistance students from Bryant Stratton College will be off for the summer after tomorrow.  We will miss them!  They’ll be back again on September 6th.

Let’s be sure to share our love and gratitude with them tomorrow.  We are fortunate and thankful to have them.

Thank You Dr Becky, Dr Sarah, Dr McKensie and all the students!  Enjoy the rest of your summer and we’ll be looking forward to seeing you again in Spetember. 😊

Golf themed movie day tomorrow – Wednesday 6-28-2023

Golf Outing this Friday
Tee’d Off at MS Golf Outing Friday, June 30th

ePlatinum Health’s annual golf scramble “Tee’d Off at MS” is this Friday…exciting!  Thank you so much for the people at ePlatinum Health for putting this on for us!

Thank you also to everyone who worked so hard volunteering in so many ways to make this possible.  Thanks also to everyone who donated items to our silent auction and raffle baskets, hole sponsorships, etc.  Lots of energy went into putting this on by so many people.

It truly takes a lot of effort from so many people to make this possible.  THANK YOU for doing your part!

Thank you to all who are participating in this event!  Let’s hope for great weather.  It looks like it could get interesting later in the afternoon.

Friday Morning Bike Ride
The trikes and handcycle will not be available this Friday.  We are taking them to the golf outing and letting the golfers experience some of what we are doing together.

I hope the rest of you still get together and go for a ride on Friday morning.  Send some pics 😊  I hope you have a nice ride!

It looks like the weather is going to be beautiful again this Friday in the morning.  Hopefully the wind changes direction and the smoke goes away.  That smoke is crazy, I’ve never experienced anything like it.  Let’s keep all the people in Canada in our prayers.  If the smoke is this bad here, I can’t imagine what it’s like there.

We’ll be meeting Friday mornings at 7:00am at Nettesheim Park in Pewaukee.  It’s on the SE corner of Hwy SS and Oak Street.  The GPS address is:  N26W27495 Prospect Ave, Pewaukee, WI 53072.  Come a little early so you can get your bike out of your car and be ready to ride as close to 7:00 as possible.  We’ll ride until about 8:45.  Let’s ride and have some fun!

Again, for those who wish you could join us but can’t; please know we have you in our hearts on these rides.  We’re riding with you and for you.  I hope you too can join us someday.  We really need to get this MS thing figured out.  Let’s keep working on it together.

MS Bike Ride – August 5th and 6th
The MS bike ride will have a new route this year in the Wisconsin Dells area.  If you want to ride and haven’t signed up yet, there’s still time to do so.  You’re welcome to sign up on our Peppy Pedaler’s team.  We now have 48 people signed up on our team and 6 of these 46 are people living with MS.  We’ll have fun on this ride!

Here’s the link to sign up on our Peppy Pedaer’s Team  https://mssociety.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.team&teamID=33945

If you’d be willing to support me on this ride by making a donation to the National MS Society, you can do this on my personal page.  Here’s the link…thank you in advance for your support!  https://mssociety.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.participant&participantID=232246

It’s critical we continue to support the National MS Society and all the research and programs they fund.  Thanks to all who have supported us in the past.  I’m proud and thankful to say that our Peppy Pedaler’s team has already raised over $1,000,000.00.  Yes, that’s over one million dollars as of last year.  Thank you for your support!

We need to continue to support reasearch so that perhaps one day, we’ll have more answers for MS.  These answers are going to come from research.  The National MS Society funds the research we need.  Let’s do our part by supporting the National MS Society.

Day of Endurance Journey – Progress – Let’s share!
I have some great news to share about our “Day of Endurance”.  We have a venue!  We reserved a picnic area for our “home base” that day at Naga-Waukee Park in Delafield.  The routes are going to be awesome!

Please share your progress by recording it on the board.  We have some amazing and inspirational progress being made physically along with mentally and emotionally.

Each two-week period, let’s record our longest distance or time of each event we’re working toward for the “Day of Endurance”.  Along with that, let’s share a few words about how we felt after our long event for the two-week period leading up to the day of endurance on August 26th.  That’s it!

Each two-week period, let’s try to do just a little more than the last two-week period and record (share) it again.

Let’s enjoy our journey…together!

 Let’s get together!
We’ll be getting together again from 9:00am – noon on Wednesday and Friday mornings at the gym.  I hope you’ll join us!

Ricky will be here Wednesday and Friday doing Thai Massage.

Many continue making great progress with chronic pain relief, range of motion, walking better and a new sense of hope when Ricky works with them.  Please keep in mind that consistency is key.  Not only with Ricky…with exercise too.  We need consistency to realize the benefits long term.  We want you to have long term benefits and relief.

Let’s reach out
I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone.  Perhaps you could call someone that you have not talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they are doing.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.

MS is tough.  Let us have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices.

Let’s keep moving and smiling 😊

In God We Trust…we are in good hands.

P.S.  This past weekend I had an opportunity to go to the Minocqua, WI area with some great friends and ride bike 100 miles with them.  Other than one small mishap, we all made it and had fun.  Yes, Todd made it 100 miles on his hand cycle again.  He works hard!  Too bad he didn’t look at the camera for the picture.

We also did some swimming, fishing, touring the lake on the pontoon and kayaking.  When we were swimming across the bay, we saw a couple bald eagles sitting in a tree.  We didn’t know if they would stay there or not but Mike and I decided to take our cameras on the kayaks and see if we could get some pictures of them.

When we got out to the tree they were in, they were gone but we did see them flying around.

It was fun watching them soar along the tree tops.

We even had some blue-sky pop through a little here and there.  These were fun pictures to take from a kayak.

One of the eagles eventually landed in a tree and we were able to kayak fairly close to it.

This morning when I got up, we had a visitor eating mulberries by our mulberry tree in our yard.

It’s amazing how big his horns grew already this spring.

We lost my Dad three years ago today.  I really miss him.  By seeing the eagles this weekend and the deer this morning; to me, this is certainly a sign that Dad is still with us.  He loved nature, wildlife, fishing, friends and family.  By the way, we caught some fish this weekend too 😊

For those who can’t get out and enjoy nature due your challenges with MS…my heart is with you.  You are with me every time I’m out there.  I enjoy being out there and I also enjoy sharing with you.  I know how hard it is not to be able to get out and enjoy nature.  Let’s enjoy nature and God’s beauty together this way.
