Friends,
Are you ready for our first ever “Day of Endurance”?
This Saturday, August 26th will be our Day of Endurance / Picnic at Naga- Waukee Park in Delafield.  This idea has been floating in my head for many years.  I’m so excited the day is finally coming and so many are participating in it as well as volunteering for it.

Here’s some information about the event:

What:  MS-Just Keep Moving – Day of Endurance / Picnic
Swimming, biking, walking, running, rolling (wheelchair), standing, other games, etc.
People with MS will be doing what they can do regardless of their ability level with the help of so many loving volunteers.

When:  Saturday, August 26th

Time:   6:00am  Swim start – Todd Seiwert and I are hoping to swim 2.4 miles
8:00am  Walkers, Runners, Bikers arrive and get ready for their event
8:30am  National Anthem and a few words from me
8:45 am  Walk, Run and Bike Start
The rest of the day – Picnic and people will be doing what they can do.  The picnic area will be the central                          gathering spot all day

Where:  Naga-Waukee Park, Delafield, WI.  Picnic Area #1.  You will need a $6.00 daily park pass for the day if you don’t have an annual pass.  Here’s the link for the park pass. https://anc.apm.activecommunities.com/waukeshacountyplu/membership/search/detail/38?onlineSiteId=0

You cannot buy park passes at the park any longer.  You need to buy them online or go to the courthouse to buy them.

Why:  To bring people with MS, their loved ones and friends together, build friendships, make progress with our MS, do what we can, help others, inspire others, etc.

Let’s have some fun, be safe and see what we can do in a day.  I hope you surprise yourself.  What we do on this day will be our benchmark for next year.  Hopefully many of us do even better next year.

Let’s thank our volunteers
Once again, we have many amazing, selfless, loving, hardworking volunteers stepping up to help us make this Day of Endurance possible.  We are so blessed!  Thank you to all the volunteers with MS and without MS for making this possible.  We wouldn’t even be able to consider doing this without you.  Seeing our MS-Just Keep Moving family working together so well without judgement is a beautiful thing!  THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS!

Check your sign up sheet at the gym
If you are participating or volunteering, please check the sign up sheets at the gym to see what we have you doing.  If it’s not accurate, please let Laura know.  twokuks@gmail.com

If you’re willing to bring a dish to pass, there is a sign up sheet for that at the gym as well.

One place we still need a volunteer or two is hauling equipment and supplies to the picnic area, rest area and back to the gym.  We will have everything organized pretty well at the gym, we need someone to haul it back and forth.  There is a sign up sheet for that at the gym as well or you can let me or Laura know you’re willing to do that.

Cardio and Balance Programs
We will be doing the cardio and balance programs again this week.

These classes are aimed to get everyone exercising together. We’ll need help from volunteers before and after the aerobics class on Wednesday to get members on and off equipment. All are welcome and encouraged to join.

Wednesdays  10-10:30am: aerobic exercise
Location: in the big room using aerobic equipment in front of big TVPick your favorite piece of equipment to use, bring a water bottle, and arrive a few minutes early to get the equipment set up to your height.

Fridays: balance training and core strengthening

Thai Massage with Ricky Heldt
Ricky will be here Wednesday and Friday doing Thai Massage.

Many continue making great progress with chronic pain relief, range of motion, walking better and a new sense of hope when Ricky works with them.  Please keep in mind that consistency is key.  Not only with Ricky…with exercise too.  We need consistency to realize the benefits long term.  We want you to have long term benefits and relief.

Let’s reach out
I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone.  Perhaps you could call someone that you have not talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they are doing.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.

MS is tough.  Let us have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices.

Let’s keep moving and smiling 😊

In God We Trust…we are in good hands.

P.S.  Have you ever been to Shalom Wildlife Zoo in West Bend?  I had an opportunity to go there with Bonnie, Sam and Caleb today.  Here’s a link to it https://www.shalomwildlife.com/  Larry recommended this place a while back…we finally got there.

It was different to see an Elk in Wisconsin

I thought the reflections of this albino deer getting a drink was pretty cool

We got pretty close to this albino deer

I couldn’t hardly believe the rack on this deer

This guy was happy to see us

For those who can’t get out and enjoy nature due your challenges with MS…my heart is with you.  You are with me every time I’m out there.  I enjoy being out there and I also enjoy sharing with you.  I know how hard it is not to be able to get out and enjoy nature.  Let’s enjoy nature and God’s beauty together this way.
