Friends,
Nutrition Program last week
Alison from Wholesome LLC gave another great presentation on gut health last Wednesday.  Alison sure is gifted with her knowledge about nutrition and the way she shares it with her presentations.  Great job Alison and Thank you!

Our 3rd Annual Open House was amazing – Thank you volunteers!
It warmed my heart to see so many of you at our open house with your families and friends.

So much planning and preparation went into being able to have this open house.  We’ve had people volunteering in so many ways for many weeks.  I’m so thankful to be surrounded by so many loving, selfless people willing to help.  Thank you to everyone who helped!  It was awesome to see it all come together so nicely.

Once again, Phil did an excellent job sharing stories about some of our friends living with MS  (I wish we could have told everyone’s story).  He also did a great job sharing information about what we’ve done, what we’re doing now and what we plan to do in the future.  Exciting times!

It was fun having Joel and some members of his band playing and singing the song “If Only” that Rick Talbert wrote from the perspective of someone living with MS.  It was awesome to have Brenda, Mike and Rick singing the chorus with them.

Nice pictures Cal!  Thanks for taking them and sharing them.

Like Wednesdays and Fridays, the spirit of love, encouragement, determination and support filled the room.  I’m so thankful and proud to be part of this wonderful group of people.

To think that all this started as a result of Lowell, Jerry, Mary Jo and many of the people from the Westwood Health and Fitness center running club.  They put on an indoor triathlon and wanted to include people with MS.  That was so nice if them!  It was awesome to see so many of the original people who volunteered at the indoor triathlon with us at the open house 10 or 11 years later.  Thanks for being the inspiration to get this started!  You’re all awesome!

To all of you who couldn’t make it to the open house…please know you were missed.  Thanks to Traci, there is a link to the program on our Facebook page if you want to see what you missed.

To all that did come…THANK YOU for coming!  I know that’s not easy for many.  Please thank your family members and friend for me as well.  You all made my day!

Dance Program – The No Fall Recreational Ballroom Dance is this Saturday

Here’s a messgae from Dr Ng:

Cardio and Balance Programs

These classes are aimed to get everyone exercising together.  I like that word “together” 😊.  We’ll need help from volunteers before and after the cardio class on Wednesday to get members on and off equipment. All are welcome and encouraged to join.

Wednesdays  10-10:30am: Cardio exercise
Location: in the big room using aerobic equipment in front of big TV
Pick your favorite piece of equipment to use, bring a water bottle, and arrive a few minutes early to get the equipment set up to your height.

Fridays: Balance training and Core strengthening.  Kate will not be here this Friday so you’re on your own.  Perhaps one of you who have been doing the classes can lead them.
10-10:30 am: seated balance class
10:30 – 11am: standing balance class
Pick the class / classes you feel most able and comfortable participating in. We will have chairs set up to sit on and/or use for balance support.

Email Kate at kborn1234@gmail.com with any questions.

Friday Morning Bike Ride
It’s going to be too cold this Friday…no ride.  We’re probably done riding until spring.  Let’s work hard indoors all winter so we’re ready to ride again in the spring.

Ricky will be here Wednesday and Friday doing Thai Massage.

Many continue making great progress with chronic pain relief, range of motion, walking better and a new sense of hope when Ricky works with them.  Please keep in mind that consistency is key.  Not only with Ricky…with exercise too.  We need consistency to realize the benefits long term.  We want you to have long term benefits and relief.

I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone.  Perhaps you could call someone that you have not talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they are doing.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.

MS is tough.  Let’s have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices.

Let’s keep moving and smiling 😊

In God We Trust…we are in good hands.

P.S.  I had another lucky week this past week with the camera and nature.  These turkeys were making their rounds in the neighborhood.

I found another nice sunrise Sunday morning on my way out to Nashotah Park.

I was on a walk with Mike Helbig Sunday morning at Nashotah Park.  I got there about 10 minutes before Mike did.  It was a pretty active 10 minutes.  As I walking out on the trail, I saw this coyote.  I wasn’t quite ready with the camera so I didn’t get the best picture but it was still fun to see it.

I went a little further and I had this doe stomping her feet at me.  She kept coming closer.  We ended up pretty close to each other.

I went a little further and saw this nice buck and small deer.

It was hard to believe I saw that many critters in the 10 minutes before I met up with Mike and his dog Gimli.  We walked for a little while and saw these geese in a nice fall setting.

A little further and we saw these nice-looking wood ducks with some fall colors reflecting on the water.

This little chipmunk had quite the appetite for breakfast.

We came across this sandhill crane in a marsh.  I had to focus through the weeds.  I thought it made a nice picture.

This blue jay landed in a tree next to me.  It must have wanted its picture taken.  I can help with that.

On our way out, we noticed the milkweed seeds were flying around.  This one had frost on it earlier and frost was melting.

This one was just hanging out.

Mike, Gimli and I had a nice walk together.

For those who can’t get out and enjoy nature due your challenges with MS…my heart is with you.  You are with me every time I’m out there.  I enjoy being out there and I also enjoy sharing with you.  I know how hard it is not to be able to get out and enjoy nature.  Let’s enjoy nature and God’s beauty together this way.
