Friends,
Dove in the gym
Joan was at the gym doing some cleaning…thank you Joan!  I stopped by and she said there is a bird in the gym.  She was trying to chase it out with the door open.  I saw it and said sure enough, a dove.  I went over by it and it flew up on the handle bar of a bike.  I talked to it a little and slowly put my finger underneath of it.  Surprisingly, it climbed on my finger.

I started going towards the door and it flew on top of the TRX bar.  I thought, well it’s pretty close to the door now, I’ll just hold the door open and Joan can chase it out.  We tried but couldn’t get it to fly.  So I got a chair and put my finger under it again.  Again, it climbed on my finger.

This time Joan held the door open as I walked through the door with the dove on my finger and then…it flew away.  The end.  Wasn’t that a nice story with a good ending?

Who would have thought?
Since we started this gym almost 11 years ago, I can’t even begin to tell you about all the good things that have happened as we just do what God calls us to do…together.  Love one another.

I certainly wouldn’t have guessed that Cal and Chrissy who didn’t even know each other back then would be going on a mission trip to Panama together despite Chrissy’s challenges with MS.  Here’s a letter from Cal with a little more information about this trip.

Hi Everybody,
Dan has been very nice to allow me to mention an event that will be taking place late this spring. God has Blessed me with another Beautiful opportunity to serve the children and people of Panama. He has also Blessed us by having ‘Our Chrissy’ join our mission group this year!

We will be serving with 18 other people from River Glen church leaving June 22 and returning June 28. Among other things we will be bringing God’s word to the children of Panama through Bible studies, feeding and caring for less fortunate families.

We will be kept pretty busy. We have the opportunity to do some medical work in a community. Spending time with the little children in another community. Playing soccer and volleyball will give us an opportunity to talk with the older children about Jesus.

Many of You have supported my mission work in the past. We have not been given a list of needs yet. As soon as we are given a list we will share that list with you. If God nudges You to help us, although we have not been given a list of needs yet, basic medical supplies will be needed. Soccer and Volleyballs would be Awesome gifts that would be useful. Perhaps sports stuff, like socks or shorts, for older kids, that we could use while playing sports. Things like crayons or anything that can be used when we do arts and crafts. Anything that will help us spread the word of God.

If you choose to support me with a financial contribution, your donation would be given, directly, to aid the children and people of Panama. There is also an opportunity to financially support Chrissy. Your financial support would go to help with Chrissy’s expenses, as she has accepted God’s challenge to serve Him in a part of our world that is needy. It is also a beautiful way to say ‘Thank You Chrissy’ for your Courage to seek and help our Lord.

Thank You in advance for Your Trust, Kindness and Love for helping us serve Our Lord, the children and the families of Panama.

God Bless,
Chrissy & Cal

Exercise opportunity at Marquette University
Mellissa made me aware of an exercise program available at the Marquette University Neuro Recovery Clinic.  Marquette has had excellent research programs on the past.  This would be a great opportunity for you if you are able to engage in it.  Here’s some info:

Let’s reach out
I encourage you to share a smile and encouragement with someone.  Perhaps you could call someone that you have not talked with for a while just to say hi and see how they are doing.  We all could use a little extra love and encouragement.

MS is tough.  Let’s have faith, remain calm, be flexible, help each other and learn as much as we can about the challenges of each day as we make good choices.

Let’s keep moving, loving and smiling 😊

In God We Trust…we are in good hands.

P.S. This past weekend was really cold.  I was able to enjoy some time with my Mom by the Mississippi River by Dubuque, Iowa.  We were checking out the eagles near the dam.

The river is finally frozen so the eagles congregate by the open water.

They sure have a large wingspan

I love the reflections on the water with this one

We saw some trumpeter swans and eagles together.  Oh, and a duck too.

The swans are beautiful birds too.

Who would have thought all this was so close to home?

The cardinals were fun to take pictures of this past weekend too.

Even though it was below zero, it was fun getting out there with the camera

I got pretty lucky with pictures this past weekend

Peek a boo!

I even saw some deer with my brother Joe

For some reason, I thought I should pull over and take a picture of this simple sunset on the way home.

For those who can’t get out and enjoy nature due your challenges with MS…my heart is with you.  You are with me every time I’m out there.  I enjoy being out there and I also enjoy sharing with you.  I know how hard it is not to be able to get out and enjoy nature.  Let’s enjoy nature and God’s beauty together this way.
